We tested the hypothesis that quiet eye the final fixation before the initiation of a movement in aiming tasks, is used to scale the movement's parameters. Two groups of 12 participants (N=24) threw darts to targets in the horizontal and vertical axes under conditions of higher (random) or lower (blocked) target variability. Supporting our predictions, random practice and target changes in the vertical axis led to longer quiet eye duration than did blocked practice and target changes in the horizontal axis. Our data suggest that quiet eye is not simply a mediating factor in accuracy, but is responsive to the task's programming demands, being influenced by the necessity to reparameterize the movement from one trial to the next.

Background: Noseband adjustment should avoid discomfort and allow some jaw movement.
Objectives: To determine pressure beneath a cavesson noseband at five tightness levels during standing and chewing. It was hypothesised that increased noseband tightness is associated with increases in nasal and mandibular pressures while standing and chewing, accompanied by increases in eye temperature and blink rate.

Purpose: Chronic anterior uveitis (CAU) often requires suppressive therapy, which has potential side effects including cataract, ocular hypertension, and increased risk of infection. No remittive therapy is currently available; however, several studies have demonstrated an association between low 25-hydroxy Vitamin D (25OHD) levels and either uveitis incidence or uveitis disease activity. This study investigates the potential of Vitamin D supplementation as a remittive treatment for CAU.

To our knowledge, this is the first report of anterior segment ischaemia after PreserFlo Micro-Shunt insertion surgery. Our patient developed anterior chamber (AC) activity and keratic precipitates 1 week after surgery. Five weeks after surgery, examination revealed a shallow AC, a distorted pupil with posterior synechiae and surface iris neovascularisation.

Gastroesophageal refluxes (GERs) are universal in newborns and may induce deleterious consequences, especially in preemies. We have previously shown that nasal continuous positive airway pressure (nCPAP) inhibits GERs in full-term lambs, complementing similar results in adult humans. The effect of high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC) on GERs, however, remains unknown.
