We develop an analog of the likelihood ratio test for Cox proportional hazards models fitted to sample survey data. We look at methods for computing the asymptotic distribution and at ways of improving the small-sample performance. The methods are illustrated with examples using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey and from a stratified case-cohort study.

Aim: Total proctocolectomy (TPC) is the standard of care for patients with ulcerative colitis (UC) and dysplasia not amenable to endoscopic management. However, the risks of an extensive resection may outweigh the benefits in high-risk surgical patients. Therefore, we performed a systematic review and meta-analysis to assess postoperative outcomes between segmental colectomy (SEG) versus TPC in patients with UC.

Purpose: We aimed to identify the risk factors for severe neutropenia in the early phase of trifluridine-tipiracil (FTD/TPI) treatment, and their impact on overall survival (OS).
Methods: This single-center retrospective study included patients with unresectable metastatic colorectal cancer who were treated with FTD/TPI. The primary endpoint was OS, and the secondary endpoint was severe neutropenia during the first and second cycles of FTD/TPI.

Background: Depressive symptom is the most common type of psychiatric co-morbidity among persons with epilepsy. Epilepsy patients are identified as at higher risk of suffering depressive symptom explicitly in low- and middle-income countries due to poor mental health care systems and financial burdens. The co-occurrence of depressive symptom among epilepsy patients deteriorates the prognosis of the disease and diminishes the quality of life of both the patients and their families.

Background: Systemic inflammation biomarkers have been widely shown to be associated with infection. This study aimed to construct a nomogram based on systemic inflammation biomarkers and traditional prognostic factors to assess the risk of surgical site infection (SSI) after hip fracture in the elderly.
Methods: Data were retrospectively collected from patients over 60 with acute hip fractures who underwent surgery and were followed for more than 12 months between June 2017 and June 2022 at a tertiary referral hospital.

Background: Early identification of the risk of early cancer-related death (within one year, ECRD) due to recurrence after liver resection for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage B/C is important for surgeons to make clinical decisions. Our study aimed to establish a nomogram to predict the ECRD due to recurrence for HCC patients with BCLC stage B/C.
Methods: A total of 672 HCC patients with BCLC stages B/C from four medical centers between January 2012 and December 2018 were included in our study.
