The objective was to study dalargin in experiment and its effect on drainage tracts in norm and with experimental hypertension, modulating secondary glaucoma. Investigations have been made on 82 rabbit eyes. The overall results show, that subconjunctival and electrophoretic dalargin injection of (0.1%-0.2-0.5 ml) causes the expansion of anterior and posterior lymph-drainage tracts of the eye and have hypotensive effect for ocular hypertension and secondary glaucoma.

[ICG lymph node mapping in cancer surgery of the upper gastrointestinal tract].

Chirurgie (Heidelb)

The importance of the assessment of the N‑status in gastric carcinoma, tumors of the gastroesophageal junction and esophageal cancer is undisputed; however, there is currently no internationally validated method for lymph node mapping in esophageal and gastric cancer. Near-infrared fluorescence imaging (NIR) is an innovative technique from the field of vibrational spectroscopy, which in combination with the fluorescent dye indocyanine green (ICG) enables intraoperative real-time visualization of anatomical structures. The ICG currently has four fields of application in oncological surgery: intraoperative real-time angiography for visualization of perfusion, lymphography for visualization of lymphatic vessels, visualization of solid tumors, and (sentinel) lymph node mapping.

Why is SARS-CoV-2 infection more severe in obese men? The gut lymphatics - Lung axis hypothesis.

Med Hypotheses

November 2020

Department of Gastroenterology, IBD and Nutritional Support, CHU Paris Nord-Val de Seine, Beaujon Hospital, Clichy, France.

Consistent observations report increased severity of SARS-CoV-2 infection in overweight men with cardiovascular factors. As the visceral fat possesses an intense immune activity, is involved in metabolic syndrome and is at the crossroad between the intestines, the systemic circulation and the lung, we hypothesized that it plays a major role in severe forms of SARS-CoV-2 infection. SARS-CoV2 presents the ability to infect epithelial cells of the respiratory tract as well as the intestinal tract.

The most common sites of invasive breast cancer metastasis are the lungs, liver, bones and brain. Less frequent sites include the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, spleen, thyroid, adrenals, kidneys, heart and female genital tract. The uterus is reported as a rare site for metastasis, and even more so for an isolated metastasis.

Obesity-related adverse health consequences occur predominately in individuals with upper body fat distribution commonly associated with increased central adiposity. Visceral adipose tissue accumulation is described to be the greatest driver of obesity-induced inflammation, however evidence also supports that the intestines fundamentally contribute to the development of obesity-induced metabolic disease. The visceral adipose depot shares the same vasculature and lymph drainage as the small intestine.

TNFΔARE Mice Display Abnormal Lymphatics and Develop Tertiary Lymphoid Organs in the Mesentery.

Am J Pathol

April 2017

Inflammation Research Network and Smooth Muscle Research Group, Department of Physiology & Pharmacology, Snyder Institute for Chronic Diseases, Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary, Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Electronic address:

Chronic inflammatory diseases are associated with a persistent and enhanced response to environmental antigens. As an adaptive response to this exaggerated immune state, affected tissue typically develops tertiary lymphoid organs. Studies of Crohn disease (CD), a chronic inflammatory disease of the intestinal tract, report tertiary lymphoid organs present within the mucosal wall, along with other lymphatic diseases, such as lymphangiogenesis and obstructed lymphatic vessels.
