Radioactive MIBG can be used in radioguided surgery for neuroendocrine tumors. We report the case of a man with a mutation in the succinate dehydrogenase subunit B (SDHB) gene, in which an abdominal MRI scan identified two 5-mm left para-aortic nodules, suspect for paragangliomas. Subsequent SPECT revealed increased uptake of tracer. 123I MIBG probe-guided resection was scheduled. During surgery, 2 small nodules with elevated activity in between the superior mesenteric artery and the left adrenal gland were identified by the detection probe and were resected. Histopathologic examination revealed mature ganglioneuromas.

The challenge of "false positive" signals significantly complicates tumor localization and surgical resection, which are pivotal for successful tumor surgeries. Therefore, the development of a method for preoperative tumor localization and intraoperative margin determination holds considerable promise for improving surgical outcomes. In this study, a zero-crosstalk ratiometric tumor-targeting near-infrared (NIR) fluorescent probe was developed for precise cancer diagnosis and intraoperative navigation via NIR fluorescence imaging.

Gliomas are the most common brain tumor type in children and adolescents. To date, diagnosis and therapy monitoring for these tumors rely on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and histopathological as well as molecular analyses of tumor tissue. Recently, liquid biopsies (LB) have emerged as promising tool for diagnosis and longitudinal tumor assessment potentially allowing for a more precise therapeutic management.

Introduction: Perilunate dislocations (PLD) and perilunate fracture-dislocations (PLFD) are high-energy wrist injuries often linked to significant post-traumatic osteoarthritis. This study aims to determine whether PLD and PLFD yield different radiological outcomes following surgical treatment while identifying prognostic factors for worse outcomes.
Materials And Methods: We retrospectively analyzed 51 patients treated for perilunate injuries between 2000 and 2022.
Objective To develop an algorithm, based on the voltage matrix, for detecting regular cochlear implant (CI) electrode position during the implantation procedure, tip fold-over or basal kinking for lateral-wall electrodes. The availability of an algorithm would be valuable in clinical routine, as incorrect positioning of the electrode array can potentially be recognized intraoperatively. Design In this retrospective study intraoperative voltage matrix and postoperative digital volume tomography of 525 CI recipients were analyzed.

We aimed to develop an AI model that recognizes and displays loose connective tissue as a dissectable layer in real-time during gastrointestinal surgery and to evaluate its performance, including feasibility for clinical application. Training data were created under the supervision of gastrointestinal surgeons. Test images and videos were randomly sampled and model performance was evaluated visually by 10 external gastrointestinal surgeons.
