Gut dysbiosis serves as an underlying risk factor for the development of hypertension. The resolution of this dysbiosis has emerged as a promising strategy in improving hypertension. Food-derived bioactive protein peptides have become increasingly more attractive in ameliorating hypertension, primarily due to their anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant activities.

The currently approved drugs for Alzheimer's disease (AD) are only for symptomatic treatment in the early stages of the disease but they could not halt the neurodegeneration, additionally, the safety profile of the recently developed immunotherapy is a big issue. This review aims to explain the importance of the drugs repurposing technique and strategy to develop therapy for AD. We illustrated the biological alterations in the pathophysiology of AD including the amyloid pathology, the Tau pathology, oxidative stress, mitochondrial dysfunction, neuroinflammation, glutamate-mediated excitotoxicity, insulin signaling impairment, wingless-related integration site/β-catenin signaling, and autophagy.

Understanding the physiological connection between platelets and brain function reveals new paradigms in neurodegenerative disease treatment. Platelets, traditionally associated with hemostasis, but also sometimes regarded as a mirror of neurons in the blood circulation, also encompass a spectrum of neurobiological roles, including neuroinflammation modulation, neurogenesis, and synaptic remodeling. These roles are primarily mediated through a rich array of bioactive molecules and extracellular vesicles (EVs), capable of traversing the blood-brain barrier.

Background: Sporadic Alzheimer's Disease (sAD) is the most prevalent progressive neurodegenerative disease worldwide, without a cure. We propose to investigate therapies that contribute to the current state of this problem using a model of sAD in rats based on a single intracerebroventricular (icv) injection of streptozotocin (STZ). In this sense, thymulin (originally known as serum thymic factor, FTS), a thymic peptide, emerges as a potential therapeutic agent due to its proven anti-inflammatory effects.

Progranulin is a secreted pro-protein that is necessary for maintaining lysosomal function and exerts anti-inflammatory and neurotrophic effects in the brain. Loss-of-function GRN mutations, most of which cause progranulin haploinsufficiency, are a major autosomal dominant cause of frontotemporal dementia (FTD). Other GRN variants are associated with risk for FTD, Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Parkinson's disease.
