Unlabelled: We present a plug-in for Pathway Tools, an integrated systems biology software to create, maintain and query Pathway/Genome Databases. Fully integrated into the graphical user interface and menu, this plug-in extends the application's functionality by the ability to create multiple sequence alignments, systematically annotate insertion sequence (IS) elements and analyse their activity by cross-species comparison tools. Microarray probes can be automatically mapped to target genes, and expression data obtained with these arrays can be transformed into input formats needed to visualize them in the various omics viewers of Pathway Tools. The plug-in API itself allows developers to integrate their own functions into the Pathway Tools menu.

Availability: Binaries are freely available for non-commercial users at http://genome.tugraz.at/PGDBToolbox/ and can be used on all platforms supported by Pathway Tools. A user guide is freely available at: http://genome.tugraz.at/PGDBToolbox/documentation.shtml.

Molecular analysis of HPV16 and HPV18 oncogenes in oral squamous cell carcinoma: Structural, transcriptomic and insights.

Oncol Lett

March 2025

Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Saveetha Dental College and Hospitals, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Saveetha University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu 600077, India.

The present study investigated the involvement of human papillomavirus (HPV)16 and HPV18 in oropharyngeal malignancies in order to understand the oncogenic mechanisms, and to identify biomarkers for early detection and treatment targets. Given the rising incidence of HPV-associated cancer, particularly in India, this holds significance in elucidating the molecular basis of these diseases. Structural validation of HPV16 and 18 oncoproteins E6 and E7 was conducted using computational tools, while gene expression profiles related to oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) were analyzed to assess differential expression.

Introduction: Metabolic disorders (type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, hyperglycaemia, obesity, hyperlipidaemia, hypertension, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and metabolic syndrome) are leading causes of mortality and disability worldwide. These disorders disproportionately affect older adults relative to those younger. Digital health technologies (DHTs), such as patient monitoring, digital diagnostics and digital therapeutics, emerge as promising tools for health promotion in day-to-day life.

Use of Biotin-Labeled Geranyl Pyrophosphate for Analysis of Ykt6 Geranylgeranylation.

Methods Mol Biol

January 2025

Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Institute of Development, Aging and Cancer, Tohoku University, Sendai, Japan.

Functionally derivatized analogs of prenyl lipids are valuable tools for the detection and analysis of prenylated proteins. Using a biotinylated analog of geranylgeranyl, we previously identified Ykt6 as a substrate for a novel protein prenyltransferase, termed geranylgeranyltransferase type III (GGTase-III). Ykt6 is an evolutionarily highly conserved SNARE protein that regulates multiple intracellular trafficking pathways, including intra-Golgi trafficking and autophagosome-lysosome fusion.

GIMAP1 interacts with TMX1 to improve lung adenocarcinoma prognosis by influencing tumor immune microenvironment.

Biochim Biophys Acta Mol Basis Dis

January 2025

Department of Medical Microbiology, Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University, Changsha, Hunan, China. Electronic address:

Recent studies have indicated that the GIMAP family is downregulated in lung cancer and correlates with poor prognosis, although the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study aimed to elucidate the mechanism behind GIMAP1 downregulation in lung cancer. Bioinformatics tools were employed to assess the correlation between the GIMAP family and various cancers.

Electronic address:

Artificial intelligence (AI) tools can triage radiology scans to streamline the patient pathway and also relieve clinician workload. Validated AI tools can mitigate the delays in reporting scans by flagging time-sensitive and actionable findings. In this study, we aim to investigate current stakeholder perspectives and identify obstacles to integrating AI in clinical pathways.
