Changing public health and hospital protocols during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic shaped the provision of inpatient mental health care. While a growing body of research explores the challenges of restrictions on adult psychiatric wards, the impact on clinical teams and epidemiological trends in youth mental health, no research has explored inpatient psychiatric hospital services for child and adolescent psychiatry during the pandemic. This study seeks to understand how clinicians in Canada working in child and adolescent mental health wards experienced caring for their patients while navigating pandemic hospital restrictions.

Politics as the exercise of power always influence public policies-which reflects the multifaceted nature of decision-making-but "using politics" as a motivation for self-serving interests of government leaders and their allies poses problems. This study aimed to examine the rejection-identification model (RIM) within a community sample of undocumented Hispanic immigrants in the United States, a unique and vulnerable population who face distinct legal and sociopolitical challenges. The RIM posits that ethnic discrimination is associated with increased identification with one's ethnic group, which, in turn, is positively associated with well-being. Data were collected from a community sample of 140 undocumented Hispanic immigrants living in the South-Central United States during the height of the 2015 Trump presidential campaign.

J Eat Disord

August 2024

Department of Social Transformation Studies, Kansas State University, 003 Leasure Hall 1128 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr, Manhattan, KS, 66506, USA.

The eating and feeding disorder section of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders 5 Text Revision (DSM-5-TR) is organized by a diagnostic algorithm that limits the contemporaneous assignment of multiple eating disorder diagnoses. Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) is a disturbance in food intake typically associated with lack of interest in food, food avoidance based on sensory characteristics, and/or fear of aversive consequences from eating. According to the DSM-5-TR, an ARFID diagnosis cannot be made when weight or shape disturbances are present, and ARFID cannot be co-diagnosed with other eating disorders characterized by these disturbances.
