The threat of emerging pathogens and microbial drug resistance has spurred tremendous efforts to develop new and more effective antimicrobial strategies. Recently, a novel ultrashort pulsed (USP) laser technology has been developed that enables efficient and chemical-free inactivation of a wide spectrum of viral and bacterial pathogens. Such a technology circumvents the need to introduce potentially toxic chemicals and could permit safe and environmentally friendly pathogen reduction, with a multitude of possible applications including the sterilization of pharmaceuticals and blood products, and the generation of attenuated or inactivated vaccines.

Aims: The aim of this study was to develop an ultra-short echo time 3D magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) method for imaging subacute myocardial infarction (MI) quantitatively and in an accelerated way. Here, we present novel 3D T- and T -weighted Multi-Band SWeep Imaging with Fourier Transform and Compressed Sensing (MB-SWIFT-CS) imaging of subacute MI in mice hearts .
Methods And Results: Relaxation time-weighted and under-sampled 3D MB-SWIFT-CS MRI were tested with manganese chloride (MnCl) phantom and mice MI model.

We report a case of a parturient with severe cardiac disease requiring elective termination of pregnancy. The patient underwent successfully monitored anesthesia care using remimazolam for dilation and curettage. The patient remained hemodynamically stable and appropriately sedated while achieving optimal procedural conditions.

Detecting electromagnetic radiation scattered from a tip-sample junction has enabled overcoming the diffraction limit and started the flourishing field of polariton nanoimaging. However, most techniques only resolve amplitude and relative phase of the scattered radiation. Here, we utilize field-resolved detection of ultrashort scattered pulses to map the dynamics of surface polaritons in both space and time.

Zigzag aromatic hydrocarbon belts, ultrashort segments of zigzag carbon nanotubes, have been fascinating in the chemistry community for more than a half century because of their aesthetically appealing molecular nanostructures and tantalizing applications. Precise introduction of heteroatoms of distinct electronegativity and electronic configuration can create various heterocyclic aromatic nanobelts with novel physical and chemical properties. Here, we report the synthesis of unprecedented N-doped zigzag-type aromatic belts, belt[]pyrrole[]pyridines ( = 6-8), from multiple intramolecular C-C homocoupling reactions of readily available azacalix[](3,5-dibromopyridine)s.
