The distribution of factor B (Bf) phenotypes and gene frequencies were investigated in 280 genetically unrelated persons of the Slovak population. Thin-layer agarose gel high-voltage electrophoresis and subsequent immunofixation were used. A low frequency of the "rare" allele BfFl was observed (BfFl = 0.0017). The frequencies of common Bf alleles BfS and BfF (BfS = 0.816, BfF = 0.1625) and a "rare" allele BfSO.7 (BfSO.7 = 0.0178) were inside the corresponding ranges of BfS, BfF and BfSO.7 found in European Caucasoids. No other variants were observed.

The rapidly increasing number of elderly people in the world highlights the need for the development of innovative foods with modified textures that do not expose the elderly to the risks associated with food consumption (risk of aspiration, suffocation, and chocking). Providing specific food such as edible gel for the elderly population and the study of their properties is a challenge for the scientific community. There are some available gels in the supermarkets destined for the sports population, with specific texture and technological properties that could be used and extrapolated for senior people.

Introduction: Silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) are widely utilized for their exceptional antimicrobial properties, but concerns persist regarding their environmental impacts, particularly in soil and water ecosystems. This study compared the effects of chemically and biologically synthesized AgNPs and ionic silver on bacterial communities commonly present in soil and the proliferation of antibiotic resistance in the soil ecosystem.
Results And Discussion: Biologically synthesized AgNPs exhibited the strongest antimicrobial activity, significantly reducing bacterial populations within a day, and demonstrated minimal impacts on the development of antibiotic resistance in long-term.
