A 41-year-old woman had a jeopardizing air leak from an alveolar-pleural and transdiaphragmatic fistula with pulmonary cavitation, secondary to a severe postoperative abdominal sepsis. Her condition dramatically improved by introduction, in the lower bronchus, of a one-way endobronchial valve, leading to immediate cessation of air leakage and removal of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and thus avoiding a lower left lobectomy with myoplasty. Furthermore, removal of the valve nine weeks later led to near-complete recovery of the left lower lobe.

The plane running between two adjacent pulmonary segments consists of a very thin layer of connective tissue through which the pulmonary vein also runs. To perform an anatomically correct segmentectomy, this segmental plane needs to be divided. Before the operation, the locations of vessels and bronchi are confirmed by three-dimensional computed tomography.

Background: This study aimed to evaluate the necessity of lymph node sampling for specific non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).

Methods: Patients with small-size (≤2 cm) NSCLC who underwent surgical resection between 2009 and 2022 were retrospectively screened. The characteristics of patients with nodal metastasis were demonstrated.

A Chain Entanglement Gelled SnO₂ Electron Transport Layer for Enhanced Perovskite Solar Cell Performance and Effective Lead Capture.

Adv Mater

January 2025

School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Special Functional Aggregated Materials, Shandong Key Laboratory of Advanced Organosilicon Materials and Technologies, Shandong University, Jinan, 250100, China.

SnO₂ is a widely used electron transport layer (ETL) material in perovskite solar cells (PSCs), and its design and optimization are essential for achieving efficient and stable PSCs. In this study, the in situ formation of a chain entanglement gel polymer electrolyte is reported in an aqueous phase, integrated with SnO₂ as the ETL. Based on the self-polymerization of 3-[[2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]dimethylammonium]propane-1-sulfonic acid (DAES) in an aqueous environment, combining the catalytic effect of LiCl (as a Lewis acid) with the salting-out effect, and the introduction of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) as the other polymer chain, a chain entanglement gelled SnO (G-SnO) structure is successfully constructed with a wide range of functions.

Objective: The objective of this study was to investigate the utility of preoperative 18F-FDG PET/CT scanning in preoperative evaluation and surgical planning for pulmonary tuberculosis.

Methods: The study involved a retrospective analysis of clinical data and preoperative chest 18F-FDG PET/CT data of 24 patients with pulmonary tuberculosis who underwent pneumonectomy at the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center between December 2017 and January 2022.

Results: All 24 patients successfully underwent chest 18F-FDG PET/CT imaging, and complete data pertaining to the maximum standardized uptake value, mean standardized uptake value, minimum standardized uptake value, total lesion glycolysis, and metabolic tumor volume were obtained.

Post-Treatment of Monolayer MoS Field-Effect Transistors with HO Vapor: Alleviation of Remote Channel Doping.

ACS Appl Mater Interfaces

January 2025

School of Advanced Materials Science and Engineering, Sungkyunkwan University, Suwon 16419, Republic of Korea.

Atomic layer deposition (ALD) of high-k dielectric films on MoS channels can lead to inadvertent remote electron doping of channels owing to nonequilibrium ALD conditions, such as the low temperatures and short purge times required for pinhole-free coating, as well as the weak physical adsorption of ALD precursors on MoS. In this study, we propose the application of a simple and effective HO vapor post-treatment (HO PT) at 100 °C immediately after complete integration of bottom- and top-gate monolayer MoS field-effect transistors (FETs), to address the inadvertent channel doping effect. When HO PT was applied to bottom-gate monolayer MoS FETs with an ALD-AlO passivation layer, the mitigation of channel doping was confirmed through electrical and optical measurements.
