Caffeic acid phenethyl ester (CAPE) is one of the main active components of the natural medicine propolis, which has antioxidant, anti-tumor, and immunomodulatory activities. This study aimed to analyze the effects and underlying mechanisms of CAPE added to the medium of in vitro cultures on the developmental competence, mitochondria, and endoplasmic reticulum of porcine embryos. The results demonstrated that 1 nM of CAPE significantly improved the quality of porcine embryos, increased the rate of blastocyst formation, and enhanced the proliferation ability.

OTUD5 Protects Dopaminergic Neurons by Promoting the Degradation of α-Synuclein in Parkinson's Disease Model.

Department of Pharmacology, School of Basic Medical Sciences, Shandong University, Jinan, Shandong, 250012, P. R. China.

Defective clearance and accumulation of α-synuclein (α-Syn) is the key pathogenic factor in Parkinson's disease (PD). Recent studies emphasize the importance of E3 ligases in regulating the degradation of α-Syn. However, the molecular mechanisms by which deubiquitinases regulate α-Syn degradation are scarcely studied.

Hippo-YAP signaling alleviates copper-induced mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative damage via the ATOX1-PPA2 pathway.

Laboratory of Animal Developmental Biology, College of Life Science, Northeast Forestry University, Harbin 150040, China. Electronic address:

Hippo signaling plays a crucial role in the cellular response to various stressors, such as mechanical stress, metabolic stress, and hypoxic stress. However, its physiological significance in copper (Cu) stress remains poorly understood. Here, we demonstrated aberrant activation of Hippo-YAP signaling in sheep pancreas and pancreatic organoids exposed to excessive Cu, accompanied by significant pathological changes, elevated levels of oxidative stress, and impaired mitochondrial structure and function.

Caregiver-centric interventions for family carers of children with neurodevelopmental disorders in India - A scoping review.

Department of Social Sciences, School of Social Sciences and Languages, Vellore Institute of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, India.

Caregiving for children with neurodevelopment disorders (NDDs) can be a lifelong process that takes hold of an individual's time, energy, and resources. This raises a question about the caregivers' needs and concerns and the extent to which they receive medical or psychological attention during caregiving. This scoping review examines the psychosocial interventions conducted in India for caregivers of children with NDDs.
