N-Unsubstituted β-lactams react with a molecule of aryne by insertion into the amide bond to form a 2,3-dihydroquinolin-4-one, which subsequently reacts with another molecule of aryne to form an acridone by extrusion of a molecule of ethylene. 2,3-Dihydroquinolin-4-ones react under the same reaction conditions to afford identical results. This is the first example of ethylene extrusion in aryne chemistry.

We studied the rheological properties under both shear and elongational flow and crystallization behaviors after shear history for binary blends of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) and ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA) with a slightly lower shear viscosity. EVA was immiscible with PLA and dispersed in droplets in the blend. The addition of EVA significantly reduced the shear viscosity, which is attributed to the interfacial slippage between PLA and EVA.

In the work presented here, we explore the upcycling of polyethylene terephthalate (PET) that was derived from water bottles. The material was granulated and extruded into a filament compatible with fused filament fabrication (FFF) additive manufacturing platforms. Three iterations of PET combined with a thermoplastic elastomer, styrene ethylene butylene styrene with a maleic anhydride graft (SEBS-g-MA), were made with 5, 10, and 20% by mass elastomer content.

The increasing adoption of distributed recycling via additive manufacturing (DRAM) has facilitated the revalorization of materials derived from waste streams for additive manufacturing. Recycled materials frequently contain impurities and mixed polymers, which can degrade their properties over multiple cycles. This degradation, particularly in rheological properties, limits their applicability in 3D printing.

The present study examines the formulation of a biocompatible hydrogel bioink for 3D bioprinting, integrating poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate (PEGDA) and sodium alginate (SA) using a double-network approach. These materials were chosen for their synergistic qualities, with PEGDA contributing to mechanical integrity and SA ensuring biocompatibility. Fibroblast cells were included in the bioink and printed with a Reg4Life bioprinter employing micro-extrusion technology.

Chlorine dioxide (ClO) exhibits promising potential for the application in food preservation. However, the large-scale production of controlled-release ClO films faces challenges. The sodium chlorite microcapsules (Micro-SC) were successfully prepared in this study using polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) as the wall material through the spray drying method.
