The electro-optical behavior of deformed helix ferroelectric liquid crystal in reflective mode is described in this paper. The electrically controlled reflectance has been measured at subkilohertz driving voltage frequency for different polarizations of the incident light and compared quite successfully with the simulation results.

Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a cluster of metabolic abnormalities, including visceral obesity, dyslipidemia, and insulin resistance. In this regard, visceral white adipose tissue (vWAT) plays a critical role, influencing energy metabolism, immunomodulation, and oxidative stress. Many of these proteins recognize not only the chemical structure of the membrane lipids, but the curvature of the surface, binding more strongly to more highly curved surfaces, or 'curvature sensing'. Curvature sensing by amphipathic helices is known to vary with membrane bending rigidity, but changes to lipid composition can simultaneously alter membrane thickness, spontaneous curvature, and leaflet symmetry, thus far preventing a systematic characterization of lipid composition on such curvature sensing through either experiment or simulation.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective case series analysis involving 38 patients (30 Female, 8 Male) who underwent otoplasty to correct prominent ears for aesthetic purposes from January 2019 to December 2022.
