We present a self-assembly method to construct CdSe/ZnS quantum dot-gold nanoparticle complexes. This method allows us to form complexes with relatively good control of the composition and structure that can be used for detailed study of the exciton-plasmon interactions. We determine the contribution of the polarization-dependent near-field enhancement, which may enhance the absorption by nearly two orders of magnitude and that of the exciton coupling to plasmon modes, which modifies the exciton decay rate.

A novel dual-mode electrochemiluminescence (ECL)/photoelectrochemistry (PEC) biosensor was developed for sensitive serotonin detection. In this system, the PEC signal was produced by CdS quantum dots (QDs), while the ECL signal originated from L-Au NPs (luminol decorated Au nanoparticles), thereby avoiding the external interference and signal fluctuations that typically arose from using the same materials for both signals. The presence of target serotonin initiated the non-enzymatic toehold-mediated strand displacement reaction (TSDR) on magnetic bead (MB), which was followed by catalytic hairpin assembly (CHA) on the sensing interface, leading to the aggregation of many L-Au NPs.

The scanning tunneling microscope (STM) provides access to atomic-scale properties of a conductive sample. While single-molecule tip functionalization has become a standard procedure, fluorescent molecular probes remained absent from the available tool set. Here, the plasmonic tip of an STM is functionalized with a single fluorescent molecule and is scanned on a plasmonic substrate.

Metasurfaces allow light to be manipulated at the nanoscale. Integrating metasurfaces with transition metal dichalcogenide monolayers provides additional functionality to ultrathin optics, including tunable optical properties with enhanced light-matter interactions. In this work, we demonstrate the realization of a polaritonic metasurface utilizing the sizable light-matter coupling of excitons in monolayer WSe and the collective lattice resonances of nanoplasmonic gold arrays.

Exploring the high-performance photoelectronic properties of perovskite quantum dots (QDs) is desirable for paper-based photoelectrochemical (PEC) sensing;however, challenges remain in improving their stability and fundamental performance. Herein, a novel Z-scheme heterostructure with host-guest interaction by the confinement of CHNHPbBr QDs within Cu(BTC) metal-organic framework (MOF) crystal (MAPbBr@Cu(BTC)) is successfully constructed on the paper-based PEC device for ultrasensitive detection of Ochratoxin A (OTA), with the assistance of the exciton-plasmon interaction (EPI) effect. The host-guest interaction is estabilished by encapsulating MAPbBr QDs as guests within Cu(BTC) MOF as a host, which prevents MAPbBr QDs from being damaged in the polar system, offering access to long-term stability with high-performance PEC properties.

Interactions between plasmons and exciton nanoemitters in plexcitonic systems lead to fast and intense luminescence, desirable in optoelectonic devices, ultrafast optical switches and quantum information science. While luminescence enhancement through exciton-plasmon coupling has thus far been mostly demonstrated in micro- and nanoscale structures, analogous demonstrations in bulk materials have been largely neglected. Here we present a bulk nanocomposite glass doped with cadmium telluride quantum dots (CdTe QDs) and silver nanoparticles, nAg, which act as exciton and plasmon sources, respectively.
