This study aimed to identify elders' social representations of quality of life. This is an exploratory study with a sample of 240 elders, of both sexes. For data collection we used a Free Association Test with Words, using the inductive stimulus 'quality of life" and sociodemographic variables. The interviews were analyzed with the software Alceste. Of the 240 studied eslders, 167 were women, with the dominant age from 60 to 69 years, income between two and three minimum wages, most of the married and with catholicism as the predominant religion. The results from Alceste pointed towards seven hierarchical classes: accessibility, work, activity, support affection, care and interactions. Social representations of quality of life by elders can support professionals in understanding the adhesion to preventive practices for the elderly and in strengthening policies directed to this population.

This study investigated the influence of parents' Adult Attachment Interview (AAI) responses prior to the birth of a first child, on self-reported mental health symptoms of the first-born child in mid-adolescence. The sample comprised 51 first-born children aged 16 years, their mothers and fathers from a low-risk community urban sample, White, British and 70% middle class. AMothers' responses to the AAI were the strongest predictor of their adolescent children's self-reported mental health symptoms.

Children can manipulate non-symbolic representations of both small quantities of objects (about four or fewer, represented by the parallel individuation system) and large quantities of objects (represented by the analog magnitude system, or AMS). Previous work has shown that children can perform a variety of non-symbolic operations over AMS representations (like summing and solving for an unknown addend), but are not able to perform further operations on the derived solutions of such non-symbolic operations. However, while the computational capacity of AMS has been studied extensively in early childhood, less is known about the computational capacity of the parallel individuation system.

Sexual and gender minority (SGM) identifying individuals experience worse health outcomes compared to non-SGM identifying counterparts. This article seeks to reveal the potential for applying key principles of Freirean pedagogy for the effective translation of knowledge and practices associated with the concept of health literacy followed worldwide, based on a critical and emancipatory perspective. It starts from the observation that the process of adopting the concept in Brazil has been more utilitarian than critical, with initiatives predominantly focused on the translation and use of instruments to assess health literacy among population groups. In doing so, this approach has overlooked the academic contributions, practical actors, and social movements in various regions of the country, regarding the application of principles and values of Paulo Freire's thought for the emancipatory promotion of health for individuals and population groups.
