Background: For reimbursement purposes, current coding fails to reflect the true complexity and resource utilization of hospital encounters for surgeries performed to treat periprosthetic total hip arthroplasty (THA) infection. Therefore, when compared to aseptic revisions, we sought to determine (1) Is length of stay (LOS) longer for septic surgeries? (2) Are septic procedures more expensive? and (3) How do different surgical procedures for infection compare with aseptic revisions on hospital LOS and charges?
Methods: Retrospective chart review of 596 unilateral THA reoperations (473 patients) performed at a single institution (January 2015 to November 2020). Demographics, professional (ie, physicians), and technical (ie, room, implants) hospital charges per case were compared between 6 different surgery types: (1) aseptic revision (control; n = 364); (2) debridement, antibiotics, and implant retention (n = 11); (3) explantation (n = 145); (4) spacer exchange (n = 7); (5) 2-stage reimplantation (n = 59); and (6) 1-stage reimplantation (n = 10).

A 42-year-old man experienced recurrent coronary artery spasm (CAS) secondary to eosinophilic asthma despite being on multiple medications. He underwent a successful unilateral stellate ganglion block followed by bilateral thoracoscopic sympathectomy, with no subsequent recurrence of CAS. These invasive therapies offer a potential treatment option for refractory CAS.

This case report presents a 31-year-old male patient with primary infertility, a unilaterally undescended testicle, and a complete AZFc microdeletion. Despite failed attempts at testicular sperm extraction, the patient underwent successful microscopic testicular sperm extraction and subsequent viable sperm extraction, leading to successful fertilization through intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). The report underscores the potential for successful ICSI in male infertility cases with complex genetic and reproductive issues, highlighting the importance of comprehensive genetic evaluation and individualized reproductive techniques in managing male infertility associated with undescended testicle and genetic anomalies.

Nivolumab has been linked to occurrences of uveitis, yet the clinical features associated with these episodes remain unclear. This study aimed to explore the clinical characteristics of uveitis induced by nivolumab and to offer guidance for its prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. We conducted a retrospective analysis by gathering case reports related to nivolumab-induced uveitis from both Chinese and English databases, covering the period from inception until September 30, 2024.
