In the acute stage of stroke, stress hyperglycemia is common in both diabetic and nondiabetic patients. The associations between stress hyperglycemia and functional outcomes, as well as stroke recurrence were heterogeneous in previous studies. We aimed to demonstrate these associations in a general population of patients with ischemic stroke and transient ischemic attack (TIA).

Maternal Graves' disease (GD) poses a significant risk to neonatal thyroid function due to the transplacental transfer of thyrotropin receptor antibodies (TRAbs). This systematic review aims to assess the impact of maternal GD on neonatal thyroid outcomes and identify key maternal factors influencing these outcomes. A comprehensive literature search was conducted across PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane, resulting in the inclusion of 18 studies published from 2014 to 2024.

Background: Prostate cancer therapy with surgical or chemical castration with GnRH agonists has been linked to elevated FSH levels, which may contribute to secondary health disorders, including atherosclerosis and diabetes. Although recent findings suggest a role for FSH beyond the reproductive system, its metabolic impact remains unclear and difficult to disentangle from that of androgens. In this study, we examined the metabolic changes induced by FSH and distinguished them from those caused by testosterone.

Electronic Personal Health Records (EPHRs) are potentially effective tools for improving the continuity and quality of care for migrants and refugees, and specifically for undocumented migrants (UDMs). However, little is known about the intention and preconditions of healthcare providers (HCPs) to use an EPHR for UDM in the Netherlands. Between April 2023 and June 2023, thirteen interviews, using a semi-structured topic guide, were conducted with Dutch HCPs.

Introduction: Metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH), the progressive form of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD), is linked to cardiometabolic risk factors such as obesity and type 2 diabetes (T2D). The rising prevalence of MASH and risk of hepatic and extra-hepatic complications emphasize the need for a better understanding of disease progression and associated outcomes. This study aimed to evaluate the incidence of, and demographic and clinical characteristics associated with, progression to MASH-related complications by disease severity in patients with non-cirrhotic MASH or MASH cirrhosis.
