Background: House dust mites (HDMs) are the most common cause of atopic sensitivities and allergic diseases worldwide. Therefore, we decided to conduct a meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials to evaluate the effect of different methods of HDM avoidance.
Methods: PubMed, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials databases were searched to find articles of control-compared randomized clinical trials, which investigated the following analyzed outcomes: total amount of dust (g); Der1 (Der p1 plus Der f1) concentrations (µg/g); Der p1 concentrations (µg/g); Der p2 concentrations (µg/g); Der f1 concentrations (µg/g); measurements of peak expiratory flow (PEF) (L/min); respiratory, pulmonary, or nasal symptoms according to various scales, including visual analog scale; exacerbations; Asthma Control Questionnaire score measurements; and change in quality of life scales (overall change, activity change, symptom change, and emotional function change).

This study aimed to explore the molecular characteristics of neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP). Differentially expressed gene analysis, weighted gene co-expression network analysis, and machine learning algorithms identified three core NETs-associated genes: CXCR4, CYBB, and PTAFR, which were significantly upregulated in CRSwNP patients. The diagnostic performance of these genes was evaluated using receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves, and their clinical relevance was validated using multicenter data.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has shown great promise in analyzing nasal endoscopic images for disease detection. However, current AI systems require extensive expert-labeled data for each specific medical condition, limiting their applications. In this work, the challenge is addressed through two key innovations, the creation of the first large-scale pre-training dataset of nasal endoscopic images, and the development of a novel self-learning AI system specifically designed for nasal endoscopy, named NaMA-Mamba.

Introduction: To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a varenicline solution nasal spray 0.03 mg (VNS) in reducing signs and symptoms of dry eye disease following corneal collagen cross-linking (CXL).
Methods: Subjects undergoing CXL were randomized to VNS (study) or vehicle (control) twice daily and initiated treatment with VNS 28 days prior to the procedure with continued use for 28 days following the procedure.
