We demonstrate a multiwavelength laser in the green-yellow region by means of a diode-pumped neodymium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet laser. This laser system combines a homemade 1074 nm and 1112 nm dual-wavelength laser with extracavity second harmonic generation (SHG) or sum-frequency generation in a lithium triborate crystal to generate visible output at any one of three wavelengths, 537 nm, 546 nm, and 556 nm, by simple temperature tuning, which has an important application in detecting carbon monoxide. The maximum average output power at the three wavelengths (537 nm, 546 nm, and 556 nm) was obtained to be 10.5 W, 0.5 W, and 8.5 W, respectively. The maximum SHG conversion efficiency from the infrared to the visible spectral region was about 51%.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disease associated with neuroinflammation and heightened production of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the brain from overactive NADPH Oxidase 2 (NOX2). The current study examines whether administration of a novel, brain-penetrant NOX2 inhibitor (CPP11G & CPP11H) reduces amyloid plaque load and improves AD-associated vascular dysfunction in a male APP-PS1 mouse model of AD.
Method: Intraperitoneal injections of CPP11G (n = 1) or CPP11H (n = 2) three times per week began at 9-10 months of age in the treatment APP-PS1 group (15 mg/kg).

The scales of the gold-dust weevil are green because of three-dimensional diamond-type chitin-air photonic crystals with an average periodicity of about 430 nm and a chitin fill fraction of about 0.44. A single scale usually contains one to three crystallites with different lattice orientations.

Drug-resistant organisms (DROs) necessitate the development of new therapies. Antimicrobial blue light (ABL) is a promising option, utilizing photoexcitation of endogenous bacterial components to generate reactive oxygen species, leading to bacterial death. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of a novel isotropic optical fiber under in-vitro conditions on multidrug-resistant gram-negative Pseudomonas aeruginosa (MDR-Pa) and methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

Distributed feedback lasers, which feature rapid wavelength tunability, are not presently available in the yellow and orange spectral regions, impeding spectroscopic studies of short-lived species that absorb light in this range. To meet this need, a rapidly tunable laser system was constructed, characterized, and demonstrated for measurements of the NH radical at 597.4 nm.

The rapid and precise identification of microorganisms is essential in environmental science, pharmaceuticals, food safety, and medical diagnostics. Raman spectroscopy, valued for its ability to provide detailed chemical and structural information, has gained significant traction in these fields, especially with the adoption of various excitation wavelengths and tailored optical setups. The choice of wavelength and setup in Raman spectroscopy is influenced by factors such as applicability, cost, and whether bulk or single-cell analysis is performed, each impacting sensitivity and specificity in bacterial detection.
