Background: Intussusception of the appendiceal endometriosis is rare. Although approximately 200 cases of appendiceal intussusception have been reported in the literature, very few have ever been diagnosed preoperatively. Here, we report the case of intussusception of the appendiceal endometriosis with laparoscopic ileocecal resection.

Selective progesterone receptor modulators (SPRMs) are synthetic steroid compounds that interact with the progesterone receptor, inducing various agonist, antagonist or mixed responses. First identified with mifepristone, they are now represented by ulipristal acetate (UPA), used for emergency contraception and uterine fibroids. Despite a few rare cases of severe hepatic insufficiency, SPRMs offer advantages in the treatment of uterine fibroids, reducing their volume without the hypoestrogenic side-effects of GnRH agonists, thus preserving patients' bone capital and quality of life.

Epidemiological research investigating the impact of exposure to plastics, and plastic-associated chemicals, on human health is critical, especially given exponentially increasing plastic production. In parallel with increasing production, academic research has also increased exponentially both in terms of the primary literature and ensuing systematic reviews with meta-analysis. However, there are few overviews that capture a broad range of chemical classes to present a state of play regarding impacts on human health.

Over the past decade, the development of three-dimensional (3D) models has increased exponentially, facilitating the unravelling of fundamental and essential cellular mechanisms by which cells communicate with each other, assemble into tissues and organs and respond to biochemical and biophysical stimuli under both physiological and pathological conditions. This section presents a concise overview of the most recent updates on the significant contribution of different types of 3D cell cultures including spheroids, organoids and organ-on-chip and bio-printed tissues in advancing our understanding of cellular and molecular mechanisms. The case studies presented include the 3D cultures of breast cancer (BC), endometriosis, the liver microenvironment and infections.
