The Ag(I) atom in the title compound, [Ag(NO(3))(C(10)H(20)N(4))(2)]·C(2)H(5)OH·H(2)O, is coordinated by the N atoms of two N-heterocycles [N-Ag-N = 151.5 (1)°]; the approximately linear coordination geometry is distorted into a T-shaped geometry owing to a long Ag⋯O(nitrate) bond [2.717 (4) Å]. The N atoms of the N-heterocycles that are not involved in coordination point towards the lattice water mol-ecule, which functions as a hydrogen-bond donor. The water mol-ecule itself is a hydrogen-bond acceptor towards the ethanol solvent mol-ecule. Hydrogen bonds of the type N-H⋯O give rise to a layer motif parallel to (001).

Selective removal of the nitrogen atom from an aromatic -heterocycle, such as pyridine, is of significant interest and importance, yet it remains highly challenging. Here, we report an unprecedented denitrogenative ring-contraction reaction of pyridines at a dititanium hydride framework, yielding cyclopentadienyl and nitride species under mild conditions. The reaction of pyridine with a dititanium tetrahydride complex () bearing rigid acridane-based PNP-pincer ligands at room temperature produced a cyclopentadienyl/nitride complex (), in which the two Ti atoms are bridged by a nitride atom and one Ti atom is bonded to a cyclopentadienyl group formed by pyridine denitrogenation and ring-contraction.

Metal-Organic Skeleton-Derived W-Doped GaO-NC Catalysts for Aerobic Oxidative Dehydrogenation of -Heterocycles.

Materials (Basel)

September 2024

Key Laboratory of Advanced Molecular Engineering Materials, College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Baoji University of Arts and Sciences, Baoji 721013, China.

-heterocycles with quinoline structures hold significant importance within the chemical and pharmaceutical industries. However, achieving their efficient transformations remains a vital yet challenging endeavor. Herein, a series of W-doped GaO-NC catalysts were synthesized using a Ga-MOF-derived strategy through a simple solvothermal method, with a remarkably high activity and selectivity towards the oxidative dehydrogenation of -heterocycles.

Single-Atom Co-N Sites Mediate C=N Formation via Reductive Coupling of Nitroarenes with Alcohols.

It remains challenging to construct C=N bonds due to their facile hydrogenation. Herein, a single Co atom catalyst was discovered to be active for the selective construction of C=N bonds toward the synthesis of imines and heterocycles via reductive coupling of nitroarenes with various alcohols, including inert aliphatic ones. DFT calculations and experimental data revealed that the transfer hydrogenation proceeded via the intramolecular hydride transfer and the transfer of H from the α-C-H bond to the nitro group was the rate-determining step.

The incorporation of nitrogen atoms into cyclic compounds is essential for terrestrial life; nitrogen-containing (N-)heterocycles make up DNA and RNA nucleobases, several amino acids, B vitamins, porphyrins, and other components of biomolecules. The discovery of these molecules on meteorites with non-terrestrial isotopic abundances supports the hypothesis of exogenous delivery of prebiotic material to early Earth; however, there has been no detection of these species in interstellar environments, indicating that there is a need for greater knowledge of their astrochemical formation and destruction pathways. Here, we present results of simulations of gas-phase pyrrole and pyridine formation from an nanoreactor, a first-principles molecular dynamics simulation method that accelerates reaction discovery by applying non-equilibrium forces that are agnostic to individual reaction coordinates.

Skeletal Editing of Aromatic N-Heterocycles via Hydroborative Cleavage of C-N Bonds-Scope, Mechanism, and Property.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

November 2024

State Key Laboratory for Oxo Synthesis and Selective Oxidation, Lanzhou Institute of Chemical Physics (LICP), Chinese Academy of Sciences, 730000, Lanzhou, P. R. China.

Skeletal editing of the core structure of heterocycles offers new opportunities for chemical construction and is a promising yet challenging research topic that has recently gained increasing interest. However, several limitations of the reported systems remain to be addressed. For example, the reagents employed are generally in high-energy, such as chlorocarbene precursors, nitrene species, and metal carbenes, which are also associated with low atomic efficiencies.
