Several genera of amoebae can be found in water from dental units and on the inner surface of waterlines. The presence of bacterial biofilms on these surfaces is thought to favor the proliferation of amoebae. Potentially pathogenic Acanthamoeba and Naegleria spp. may be an infection risk for patients through contact with open surgical sites or aerosolization. A polymerase chain reaction of DNA extracted from pelleted samples showed that Acanthamoeba spp. and Naegleria spp. were present in water from dental units, suction lines, and suction filters at the dental clinic of the Université de Montréal. Acanthamoeba spp. were detected in 24.2% of 66 samples and Naegleria spp. in 3.0%. We discuss the infection risk associated with these results.

Poor diabetic wound healing poses a critical threat to human health. Excessive oxidative stress and increased susceptibility to bacterial infection are key issues that impede diabetic wound healing. Cerium oxide nanoparticles (CeO NPs) have attracted increasing attention because of their unique antioxidant and antimicrobial properties.

Background: Treatment of deep carious lesions poses significant challenges in dentistry, as complete lesion removal risks compromising pulp vitality, while selective removal often reduces the longevity of restorations. Herein, we propose a minimally invasive approach using High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) for microscale removal of carious dentine. Concurrently, HIFU's antimicrobial effects against associated cariogenic biofilms and the corresponding thermal and biological impacts on surrounding tissues were investigated.

This ecological study conducted with secondary data extracted from the Indigenous Health Care Information System (SIASI) analyzed the access to oral health services provided to Xukuru do Ororubá Indigenous peoples from 2017 to 2018. The units of analysis were the Indigenous villages. The services delivered by the oral health teams working in the context were analyzed, verifying access and performance indicators and their parameters.

This systematic review aims to provide preclinical evidence of the antimicrobial efficacy of natural endodontic solutions (NES) compared to sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) and chlorhexidine (CHX) against Enterococcus faecalis. The study followed the PRISMA guidelines and had a registered protocol (PROSPERO - CRD42021224022). The inclusion criteria comprised ex vivo studies simulating root canal irrigation to assess the standardized mean difference of colony-forming units (CFUs).

Breast cancer remains a significant challenge in oncology, highlighting the need for alternative therapeutic strategies that target necroptosis to overcome resistance to conventional therapies. Recent investigations into natural compounds have identified 8,12-dimethoxysanguinarine (SG-A) from Eomecon chionantha as a potential necroptosis inducer. This study presents the first computational exploration of SG-A interactions with key necroptotic proteins-RIPK1, RIPK3, and MLKL-through molecular docking, molecular dynamics (MD), density functional theory (DFT), and molecular electrostatic potential (MEP) analyses.
