In most spacecraft, there is a need to know the craft's angular rate. Approaches with least squares and an adaptive Kalman filter are proposed for estimating the angular rate directly from the star tracker measurements. In these approaches, only knowledge of the vector measurements and sampling interval is required. The designed adaptive Kalman filter can filter out noise without information of the dynamic model and inertia dyadic. To verify the proposed estimation approaches, simulations based on the orbit data of the challenging minisatellite payload (CHAMP) satellite and experimental tests with night-sky observation are performed. Both the simulations and experimental testing results have demonstrated that the proposed approach performs well in terms of accuracy, robustness, and performance.

This research investigated the impact of cyclopiazonic acid (CPA), a mycotoxin, on the function of progenitor Leydig cells (PLCs) in prepubertal male rats, focusing on its potential disruption of mitochondrial integrity through mitofusin 1 (MFN1) modulation. In vivo, Sprague Dawley rats received CPA (0.2, 1, 5 mg/kg/day) via gavage from postnatal days 21-28 to evaluate PLC function and mitochondrial morphology using serum hormone levels, histology, qPCR, and Western blot analyses.

Asteroid discoveries are essential for planetary-defense efforts aiming to prevent impacts with Earth, including the more frequent megaton explosions from decameter impactors. While large asteroids (≥100 km) have remained in the main belt since their formation, small asteroids are commonly transported to the near-Earth object (NEO) population. However, due to the lack of direct observational constraints, their size-frequency distribution -which informs our understanding of the NEOs and the delivery of meteorite samples to Earth-varies significantly among models.

This paper reports the successful application of a self-developed, miniaturized, low-power nano-star tracker for precise attitude measurement of a 5-m-long satellite extension boom. Such extension booms are widely used in space science missions to extend and support payloads like magnetometers. The nano-star tracker, based on a CMOS image sensor, weighs 150 g (including the baffle), has a total power consumption of approximately 0.

We recently developed a galvanostatic maximum power point output (MPPT) algorithm for high-hysteresis perovskite solar cells (PSCs), enabling continuous and precise power tracking. Here, we present a protocol for assembling the tracker, implementing the algorithm on a microcontroller, and conducting JV scans and stabilized output power (SOP) or traditional perturb and observe (P&O) tracking for small-area photovoltaic cells. We also describe steps for collecting, storing, and plotting data and explain the device's operational modes and functions.
