We developed a global orientation coherence task for the assessment of global form processing along similar lines to the global motion coherence task. The task involved judgments of global orientation for an array of limited duration 1-D Gabors, some of which were signal (signal orientation) and some of which were noise (random orientation). We address two issues. First: Do motion and form global processing have similar dependencies? And second: Can global sensitivity be explained solely in terms of integrative function? While most dependencies (e.g., contrast, spatial scale, and field size) are similar for form and motion processing, there is a greater dependence on eccentricity for form processing. Sensitivity for global tasks involves more than just integration by filters broadly tuned for orientation. Results are best modeled by filters with narrowband orientation tuning that effectively segregate as well as integrate global information.

Key examples include beliefs about its malleability, its distribution in the population, whether high levels of it ("brilliance") are necessary for success, its origins, and its responsiveness to intervention. We outline two general theoretical techniques to simulate polariton quantum dynamics and optical spectra under the collective coupling regimes described by a Holstein-Tavis-Cummings (HTC) model Hamiltonian. The first one takes advantage of sparsity of the HTC Hamiltonian, which allows one to reduce the cost of acting polariton Hamiltonian onto a state vector to the linear order of the number of states, instead of the quadratic order. The second one is applying the well-known Chebyshev series expansion approach for quantum dynamics propagation and to simulate the polariton dynamics in the HTC system; this approach allows us to use a much larger time step for propagation and only requires a few recursive operations of the polariton Hamiltonian acting on state vectors.
