This article describes a technique for preparing the bed for autologous bone grafting in nonunion surgery. The procedure is divided into 2 steps. First, both ends of the fracture fragments are chipped into small pieces using an osteotome and hammer without peeling off the periosteum, creating pathways into the bone marrow. Second, cancellous bone harvested from the iliac crest is grafted into the aperture created by the previous bone chipping treatment. The technique is easy to perform and is a promising approach for enhancing bone healing in nonunion and delayed union.

Hard-to-heal wounds represent a global and growing medical and economic burden. Skin autografting is a useful treatment option but is often limited by donor site morbidity, logistical considerations, and grafting success in compromised wound beds. Combining autologous skin cell suspension (ASCS) technology with minced dermal grafts can allow for dermal elements and epithelial healing as well as closed donor sites.

Purpose: To describe the use of crescentic autograft as a graft salvage technique for inadvertently undersized donor lenticules in superficial anterior lamellar keratoplasty (SALK).
Methods: A prospective interventional study included 5 eyes of 4 patients who underwent SALK and had an inadvertently undersized donor lenticule. The described technique involves the preparation of a crescent-shaped graft from the host lenticule itself that is matched to fit into the remaining bare recipient stromal bed.

The prompt management of patients with massive burns is essential to maximize survival by preventing infection, hemorrhage, fluid and heat loss, and to optimally prepare the wound bed for the application of autografts or cultured tissue-engineered artificial autologous skin. Acute treatments are typically based on temporary bio-dressings, commonly cadaveric skin allografts, but supply challenges, high costs and increasingly stringent regulatory requirements preclude their widespread use. Nanostructured fibrin-agarose hydrogels (NFAH) have been proven to be safe and effective biomaterials in preclinical and clinical studies, and show good hemostatic and biomechanical properties.
