Pemphigus is a group of autoimmune bullous diseases mediated by autoantibodies most often of the immunoglobulin G class, subclasses immunoglobulin G1, and immunoglobulin G4 (IgG4), directed against desmosomal adhesion proteins of keratinocytes.
