Paralytic ileus is a severe complication resulting from a variety of disorders. It occurs most commonly in patients with serious underlying medical or surgical conditions. Prompt diagnosis and appropriate management may improve the outcome. We describe 2 cases of onco-hematologic patients who presented this complication after intensive chemotherapy.

Background: The authorization of new therapeutic indications for drugs already reimbursed by the Italian National Health Service (NHS) represents a matter of importance. This study aims to estimate the additional discount attributed to the extension of indications (EoIs) to explore the potential correlation between spending and negotiated discounts and to find specific factors (determinants) that impact on discount.
Methods: The study focused on drugs approved in Italy between 2003 and 2017 with at least four therapeutic indications, including the first approved and EoIs, with follow-up extended until 2021 to acquire all the information on the negotiation process that has been completed.

Aims: Left ventricular (LV) ring-like scar on cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) has been linked to malignant arrhythmias in patients with non-ischemic cardiomyopathy. This study aimed to perform a comprehensive evaluation of this phenotype and to identify risk factors for life-threatening arrhythmic events (LAEs), a composite of sudden cardiac death (SCD), aborted SCD, and sustained ventricular tachycardia.
Methods And Results: One-hundred-fifteen patients (median age 39 [IQR 28-52], 42% females) were identified at 6 referral centres.

Objectives: Venous and arterial thromboembolism (VTE/ATE) often coexist with onco-hematologic diagnosis. This study aimed to assess the time relationship between the diagnosis of VTE/ATE and blood cancers. The second aim was to identify VTE/ATE risk factors related to the type of hematology disease and cardiac history.

Introduction And Importance: Total hip arthroplasty is one of the most performed surgical interventions in the world. Adverse local tissue reactions and pseudotumors are infrequent but dangerous eventualities, which are often related with metal-on-metal or metal-on-polyethylene implants. This study wants to highlight how adverse local tissue reactions and pseudotumors must be taken into consideration during the diagnostic process.

Introduction: Potential drug interactions exert a significant impact on patient safety, especially within intricate onco-hematological treatments, potentially resulting in toxicity or treatment failures. Despite the availability of databases for potential drug interaction investigation, persistent heterogeneity in concordance rates and classifications exists. The additional variability in database agreement poses further complexity, notably in critical contexts like onco-hematology.
