The aim of this study was to look for differences in the power spectra and in EEG connectivity measures between patients in the vegetative state (VS/UWS) and patients in the minimally conscious state (MCS). The EEG of 31 patients was recorded and analyzed. Power spectra were obtained using modern multitaper methods. Three connectivity measures (coherence, the imaginary part of coherency and the phase lag index) were computed. Of the 31 patients, 21 were diagnosed as MCS and 10 as VS/UWS using the Coma Recovery Scale-Revised (CRS-R). EEG power spectra revealed differences between the two conditions. The VS/UWS patients showed increased delta power but decreased alpha power compared with the MCS patients. Connectivity measures were correlated with the CRS-R diagnosis; patients in the VS/UWS had significantly lower connectivity than MCS patients in the theta and alpha bands. Standard EEG recorded in clinical conditions could be used as a tool to help the clinician in the diagnosis of disorders of consciousness.

Chemical exchange saturation transfer (CEST) improves the sensitivity of NMR but depending on the spin exchange kinetics, it can require substantial RF energy deposition to label magnetization. Potential side effects like RF-induced heating may occur and must be monitored. Here, we explore the parameter space considering not only undesired heating but efficient CEST build-up (depolarization rate), spectral resolution (line width), and subsequent effects like changes in chemical shifts of CEST responses must be considered, too.

This study aimed to identify biomolecular differences between benign gastric tissues (gastritis/intestinal metaplasia) and gastric adenocarcinoma and to evaluate the diagnostic power of Raman spectroscopy-based machine learning in gastric adenocarcinoma. Raman spectroscopy-based machine learning was applied in real-time during endoscopy in 19 patients (aged 51-85 years) with high-risk for gastric adenocarcinoma. Raman spectra were captured from suspicious lesions and adjacent normal mucosa, which were biopsied for matched histopathologic diagnosis.

In this report the photophysical property of newly synthesized fluorescein based derivative 2-(5-((2,4-dichlorophenyl)diazenyl)-6-hydroxy-3-oxo-3H-xanthen-9-yl)benzoic acid has studied by spectroscopic and theoretical that is by Density Functional Theory technique. The structural and functional group of the synthesized molecule was confirmed by nuclear magnetic resonance and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy technique, and from the result so far obtained has been confirmed that molecule has a stable structure and confirmed the presence the functional groups present in the sample. The optical properties of the molecule are studied using the spectroscopic technique and it has revealed the solute-solvent interaction behaviour of the molecule and it has been observed that the bathochromic shift was of about 5 nm, from the fluorescence measurement it has revealed that the emission has been observed at green region and from the power spectra it has been confirmed the same.

Research Background: Green extraction technologies, such as microwave-assisted extraction, have been used to replace conventional methods of isolating essential oils from plants. In this study, the essential oil was extracted from the variety koseret using the advanced method of microwave-assisted hydrodistillation. The main objective was to investigate the effect of irradiation time, microwave power and particle size on the yield and chemical composition of the essential oil extracted from leaves dried in an oven at 50 °C and room temperature.

In order to achieve new energetic materials with high energy, low sensitivity, and moisture-proof properties, dihydroxylammonium 5,5'-bistetrazole-1,1'-diolate (TKX-50)/ammonium perchlorate (AP) cocrystal (molar ratio 1:1) was successfully prepared through a spray-assisted solvent-nonsolvent method. SEM shows that the morphology of the cocrystal is different from those of the two raw materials. XRD and FT-IR spectra indicate the formation of the cocrystal.
