In this study we report the preparation of nanohybrid dispersant molecules based on pyrene and polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxanes for non-covalent functionalization of multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs). The prepared dispersant improves the dispersion of MWCNTs in organic solvents with very different polarities such as tetrahydrofuran, toluene, and n-hexane. The functionalized MWCNTs were used to introduce conductivity into polydimethylsiloxane membranes which can be used for electrostatic discharge applications.

Developing high-performance catalysts for the alcohol electrooxidation reaction is of significant importance for the practical application of direct fuel cells. Herein, a supported catalyst consisting of well-dispersive PdCu nanoparticles (NPs) and ultrathin NiZnP nanosheets (NSs) is synthesized. The high-surface-area NiZnP NSs provide a platform for good dispersion of PdCu NPs, resulting in stable catalysts with a large number of exposed surface atoms.

Nanohybrids combining phenylboronic acid-modified carbon dots (PCDs) and proteinase K have been engineered for addressing the formidable challenges of antimicrobial photodynamic therapy (aPDT) against bacterial biofilm infections, overcoming biofilm barrier obstruction, the limited diffusion of reactive oxygen species (ROS), and the inadequate ROS generation of traditional photosensitizers. PCDs are formulated for superior water solubility and robust singlet oxygen (O) production, mitigating issues related to dispersion and aggregation-induced quenching typical of conventional photosensitizers. The conjugation of phenylboronic acid to CDs not only enhanced O generation through increased electron-hole separation but also imparted strong bacterial binding capabilities to the PCDs, enabling broad-spectrum sterilization by maximizing the ROS-mediated bacterial destruction.

The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) recently emerged as a life-threatening global pandemic that has ravaged millions of lives. The affected patients are known to frequently register numerous comorbidities induced by COVID-19 such as diabetes, asthma, cardiac arrest, hypertension, and neurodegenerative diseases, to name a few. The expensiveness and probability of false negative results of conventional screening tests often delay timely diagnosis and treatment.

A strategically designed ternary nanohybrid (TNS-PDA/CNT), consisting of titanate nanosheet (TNS) and polydopamine-modified multiwalled carbon nanotube (PDA/CNT composite), was synthesized by the facile hydrothermal method and wet impregnation method for removal of U(VI) from aqueous solution and were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning electron microscopy-energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (SEM-EDS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Raman spectroscopy, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). TNSs were introduced into the PDA/CNT composite, which effectively averted the agglomeration of the CNT and further exposed more adsorption sites. PDA thin layer exposing more active sites was conducive to enhance adsorption capacity and kinetic.
