Porous solids with organized multiple porosity are of scientific and technological importance for broadening the application range from traditional areas of catalysis and adsorption/separation to drug release and biomedical imaging. Synthesis of crystalline porous materials offering a network of uniform micro- and mesopores remains a major scientific challenge. One strategy is based on variation of synthesis parameters of microporous networks, such as, for example, zeolites or metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Here, we show the rational development of an hierarchical variant of the microporous cubic Cu(3)(BTC)(2) (BTC = 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate) HKUST-1 MOF having strictly repetitive 5 nm wide mesopores separated by uniform microporous walls in a single crystal structure. This new material coined COK-15 (COK = Centrum voor Oppervlaktechemie en Katalyse) was synthesized via a dual-templating approach. Stability was enhanced by Keggin type phosphotungstate (HPW) systematically occluded in the cavities constituting the walls between the mesopores.

Since corrosion causes significant harm to the environment and economy, sustainable corrosion inhibitors are essential. This study set out to examine Anti-corrosion ability of a number of closely related polycyclic compounds of flavone derivatives, namely 5,7-dimethoxyflavone (1), 4',5,7-trimethoxyflavone (2), 3',4',5'-trimethoxyflavone (3), 5-hydroxy-3,3',4',7-tetramethoxyflavone (4), tangeretin (5), 3,3',4',5,6,7,8-heptamethoxyflavone (6), 3',5,7-trihydroxy-4',5',6-trimethoxyflavone (7) and 3',4',5,7-tetrahydroxy-3,6,8-trimethoxyflavone (8), using the DFT/B3LYP/6-311 + + G(d, p) basis set. Monte Carlo simulations were used to reveal the adsorption of the investigated compounds on the Cu(111) surface.

The adjustment of the electrochemiluminescence (ECL) of polymeric carbon nitride (CN) is essential for its application in sensitive immunoassays. However, such modification through aggregation-induced emission (AIE) has not yet been reported. Herein, aggregation-induced ECL in CN oligomer (CNO) was induced through the introduction of a rotatable imine moiety, with the resulting material exhibiting excellent performance in the targeted immunodetection of neuron-specific enolase.
