Objective: To examine suboptimal antenatal corticosteroid (ACS) administration based on indications and maternal-obstetrical factors.
Methods: Women who prematurely delivered (24 + 0 to 36 + 6 gestational weeks) a viable neonate following ACS treatment between 2012 and 2019 were identified by a retrospective database review. The cohort was divided into patients in whom ACS administration was optimally timed (≥24 h to ≤7 days) or suboptimally timed (>7 days).

Ketamine is approved by the FDA to be used as an anesthetic however, recent reports have exhibited its success in the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD). Studies have suggested that a sub-anesthetic dose produces rapid antidepressant activity providing significant symptomatic relief particularly in patients with a history of treatment resistant depression (TRD). Many reports have been published on the intranasal (IN) efficacy of ketamine in the treatment of depression, however studies that have investigated the effects of the route of administration on drug delivery to the brain appear to be absent in literature.

Background: Routine deflation of the endotracheal tube (ETT) cuff of critically ill patients receiving MV is common in Australia and New Zealand. Literature about ventilatorassociated pneumonia (VAP) and antibiotic use rates with different ETT cuff maintenance practices is lacking.
Objective: To determine the impact of a change in ETT cuff maintenance from a minimal leak technique to pressure manometry on the administration of antibiotics for VAP.

Pancreatic cancer is a type of cancer, which rapidly develops resistance to chemotherapy. Gemcitabine is the treatment used clinically, however, gemcitabine resistance leads to limited efficacy and patient survival rates of only a few months following diagnosis. The aim of the present study was to investigate the mechanisms underlying gemcitabine resistance in pancreatic cancer and to select targeted agents combined with gemcitabine to promote the treatment of pancreatic cancer.

The histone deacetylase (HDAC) inhibitors have been demonstrated as an emerging class of anticancer drugs. HDACs are involved in regulation of gene expression and in chromatin remodeling, thus indicating valid targets for different types of cancer therapeutics. The pan-deacetylase inhibitor panobinostat (Farydac, LBH589) was developed by Novartis Pharmaceuticals and has been recently approved by the US Food and Drug Administraion (FDA) as a drug to treat multiple myeloma.
