This study aimed to estimate the incidence of hospital transmission of influenza A subtype H1N1 [A(H1N1)], to identify high-risk areas for such transmission and to evaluate common characteristics of affected patients. In this single-centre retrospective cohort study, 10 patients met the criteria for hospital-acquired A(H1N1) infection over a three-month period. All affected patients required an escalation of their care and the mortality rate was 20%. Clinicians should be aware of the risk of nosocomial A(H1N1) infection that exists despite routine infection control measures and should consider additional control measures including vaccination of hospital inpatients and healthcare staff.

In the era of molecular testing, thyroid nodules with indeterminate cytology are increasingly being managed nonoperatively. The false-negative rates of these molecular tests, and therefore missed malignancies, are not well defined in real-world clinical practice. This retrospective study of patients undergoing fine needle aspiration (FNA) biopsy at our health system between November 2017 and March 2022 included nodules with The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology (TBSRTC) III and IV cytology and negative, currently negative, or negative but limited ThyroSeq version 3 (TSv3) results.

Background: Computed tomography angiography of the head (CTAH) is not routinely obtained during the initial evaluation of patients with traumatic intracranial hemorrhage (ICH); however, it is useful for diagnosing vascular pathologies that may have led to the bleed. The aims of this study were to identify traumatic ICH patient characteristics on presentation that are associated with positive CTAH findings to elucidate which ones should prompt a CTAH and compare outcomes of patients with positive and negative CTAH findings.
Methods: This is a retrospective cohort study of 522 patients who had blunt traumatic ICH and subsequently received CTAH between January 1, 2017, and January 1, 2022.
