A lumped model of neural activity in neocortex is studied to identify regions of multi-stability of both steady states and periodic solutions. Presence of both steady states and periodic solutions is considered to correspond with epileptogenesis. The model, which consists of two delay differential equations with two fixed time lags is mainly studied for its dependency on varying connection strength between populations. Equilibria are identified, and using linear stability analysis, all transitions are determined under which both trivial and non-trivial fixed points lose stability. Periodic solutions arising at some of these bifurcations are numerically studied with a two-parameter bifurcation analysis.

This study aims to utilize secondary aluminum dross waste to synthesize Fe-Al layered double hydroxide (Fe-Al LDH) for efficient adsorption of arsenic from drinking water. The synthesis process was based on a multi-step hydrometallurgical approach, in which the aluminum content in the waste was first converted to sodium aluminate. This was followed by the transformation into Fe-Al LDH through a series of processes, including gelation, sol formation, simultaneous precipitation, and aging.

In this study, the -model expansion method is showed to be useful for finding solitary wave solutions to the Klein-Gordon (KG) equation. We develop a variety of solutions, including Jacobi elliptic functions, hyperbolic forms, and trigonometric forms, so greatly enhancing the range of exact solutions attainable. The 2D, 3D, and contour plots clearly show different types of solitary waves, like bright, dark, singular, and periodic solitons.

This study aimed to investigate the mechanism by which Shegan Mahuang Decoction(SGMH) and its bitter Chinese herbs(BCHs) regulated the lung-gut axis through the bitter taste receptor 14(TAS2R14)/secretory immunoglobulin A(SIgA)/thymic stromal lymphopoietin(TSLP) to intervene in the epithelial cell barrier of cold asthma rats. Fifty SD rats were randomly divided into the following five groups: normal group, model group, dexamethasone group, SGMH group, and BCHs group. A 10% ovalbumin(OVA) solution was used to sensitize the rats via subcutaneous injection on both sides of the abdomen and groin, combined with 2% OVA atomization and cold(2-4 ℃) stimulation to induce a cold asthma model in rats.

Background: Young patients aged 16 to 25 years with type 1 diabetes (T1D) often encounter challenges related to deteriorating disease control and accelerated complications. Mobile apps have shown promise in enhancing self-care among youth with diabetes. However, inconsistent findings suggest that further evidence is necessary to confirm the effectiveness of app-based interventions.

Due to effective preventive measures and advanced techniques in operative dentistry, tooth loss occurs later in life and implant restorations have become a common solution for replacement of missing teeth. Therefore, the use of removable dental prostheses (RDPs) is expected to decline over time. This study aims to evaluate the expected decrease in the production of RDPs in Swiss dental laboratories over the past decade.
