Intestinal tuberculosis (TB) is an uncommon lesion for which differential diagnosis can be difficult. We present a case of a 53-year-old male and a systematic review of the literature, from clinical symptoms to differential diagnosis, unusual complications and therapy. The patient was admitted to the hospital with signs of acute abdomen as a result of a perforated terminal ileitis.

Bone marrow transplant is currently the treatment of choice for a number of haematological neoplasms. High doses of antiblastic drugs, immunosuppressive agents and acute graft versus host disease before and after bone marrow transplant cause toxic damage to the liver and to the gastrointestinal tract. Related acute abdominal complications often need emergency surgical treatment with a 30-60% mortality rate.
View Article and Find Full Text PDF400 patients with yersiniosis, shigellosis, salmonellosis and abdominal typhoid were examined clinically, roentgenologically and using various instrument techniques for changes in the stomach and intestine. Yersiniosis and abdominal typhoid were characterized by dyskinesia of the small intestine and ileotyphlitis, Flexner's shigellosis by catarrhal-hemorrhagic proctosigmoiditis, Sonne salmonellosis and shigellosis by enteritis. Terminal ileitis occurred more frequently in yersiniosis patients in recurrence.
