Objective: To compare the safety and effectiveness of vaginal misoprostol 25 μg with those of 50 μg in induction of labor.

Method: One hundred and sixty eligible women of low parity with indications for induction of labor at term were enrolled for the study. The subjects were randomized into two groups of vaginal misoprostol 25 µg and 50 µg dose regimens. Maternal characteristics, labor and newborn outcome were compared.

Results: The total duration of labor was significantly shorter in the 50 µg group (8.24 ± 1.5 h) than 25 µg group (9.09 ± 2.7 h), p = 0.02. Oxytocin augmentation was significantly higher in the 25 µg group (18.75%) than in the 50 µg group (7.5%), p = 0.04. The indications for caesarean section were significantly different, (p = 0.02) between the two groups although the incidence was similar. The intrapartum adverse effects like fetal distress, meconium stained liquor, and tachysystole were significantly higher in the 50 µg group, p = 0.003. Similarly, the postpartum adverse effects such as cervical and vaginal tears were significantly higher in 50 µg group, p = 0.01.

Conclusion: The two dose regimens were both effective in induction of labor, but 50 µg dose regimen resulted in significantly shorter duration of labor but with higher rate of labor complications than the 25 µg dose regimen.

Background: Goal-directed haemodynamic therapy (GDHT) aims to optimize haemodynamic variables. However, its effectiveness in reducing postoperative complications in major abdominal surgery, particularly when targeting both arterial pressure and flow variables, remains unclear. This meta-analysis addresses this by evaluating GDHT using uncalibrated pulse contour (uPC) methods.

Glycoproteins are special proteins and important nutrients for hypoglycemic activity. However, the structure of glycoprotein (AAG) and the stability of its hypoglycemic activity during simulated digestion (including saliva, gastral and intestine digestion) in vitro are still unknown. In this study, AAG-3 was isolated from .

Background: Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) class II molecules are cell surface receptor proteins found on antigen-presenting cells. Polymorphisms and mutations in the gene can affect the immune system and the progression of hepatitis B.

Aim: To study the relation between rs2856718 of , rs3077, and rs9277535 of , hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).

Immigrant adolescents in Canada face challenges accessing accurate sexual and reproductive health (SRH) information and services. Many challenges stem from taboos associated with SRH, cultural and religious restrictions, and social beliefs regarding the unnecessity of SRH education for adolescents. We explored the SRH experiences of immigrant adolescents in the context of their cultural and religious perspectives.

Quiescent cells require a continuous supply of proteins to maintain protein homeostasis. In fission yeast, entry into quiescence is triggered by nitrogen stress, leading to the inactivation of TORC1 and the activation of TORC2. In this study, we demonstrate that the Greatwall-Endosulfine-PPA/B55 pathway connects the downregulation of TORC1 with the upregulation of TORC2, resulting in the activation of Elongator-dependent tRNA modifications crucial for sustaining the translation programme during entry into quiescence.
