Presented are the causes and clinical picture of the compensatory positioning of the head arising in the consequence of ocular changes and changes in the muscles of the neck. The material was divided into 3 groups: 1) with paresis of the ocular muscles (20 cases), 2) caused by nystagmus (20 cases) and 3) torticollis of muscular origin (20 cases). The basis of the differential diagnosis of compensatory positioning of the head of ocular origin and of torticollis of muscular origin as well as the criterion of a cooperation between the ophthalmologist and the orthopaedic surgeon are delineated.

Introduction: There are few evidence-based practice guidelines for recalcitrant torticollis (RT), defined as torticollis that persists past 1 year of age despite conservative therapy. Available evidence recommends a combination of physical therapy (PT), occupational therapy (OT), botulinum toxin injection (BTI), and in the most severe cases, surgical release.
Methods: This is a single-center, retrospective study conducted with Institutional Review Board approval.

Congenital muscular torticollis (CMT) is a postural condition evident shortly after birth. The 2013 CMT Clinical Practice Guideline (2013 CMT CPG) set standards for the identification, referral, and physical therapy management of infants with CMT, and its implementation resulted in improved clinical outcomes. It was updated in 2018 to reflect current evidence and 7 resources were developed to support implementation.
