Background: Fibrosis of the connective tissue in the vaginal wall predominates in pelvic organ prolapse (POP), which is characterized by excessive fibroblast-to-myofibroblast differentiation and abnormal deposition of the extracellular matrix (ECM). Our study aimed to investigate the effect of ECM stiffness on vaginal fibroblasts and to explore the role of methyltransferase 3 (METTL3) in the development of POP.

Methods: Polyacrylamide hydrogels were applied to create an ECM microenvironment with variable stiffness to evaluate the effects of ECM stiffness on the proliferation, differentiation, and expression of ECM components in vaginal fibroblasts.

Uniaxial compression experiments were conducted on coal rock utilizing a computed tomography (CT) scanning system for real-time monitoring to explain the issue of gas volume significantly exceeding reservoir capacity during coal and gas outbursts. A percolation factor a which can make a significant contribution to the research on premonitory information of gas outbursts is introduced to determine whether percolation occurs in coal rock, and supports the outburst percolation theory. It was found that percolation probability and correlation length increase with greater porosity, and that the number of pore clusters decreases as porosity increases.

MarR family regulator LcbR2 activates lincomycin biosynthesis in multiple ways.

Int J Biol Macromol

January 2025

Department of Applied Biology, School of Biotechnology, East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai 200237, China.

Lincomycin, produced by the actinomycete Streptomyces lincolnensis, is highly effective against Gram-positive bacteria and protozoans, making it widely used in clinical settings. This study identified LcbR2, a MarR family transcriptional regulator, as an activator of lincomycin biosynthesis. Knocking out the lcbR2 gene reduced lincomycin production by 63.

Electronic address:

Tripterygium wilfordii (TW), which has severe hepatotoxicity, is commonly used as anti-rheumatism. Using the juice of auxiliary herbs in concocting poisonous herbs is a conventional method for toxicity reduction or efficacy enhancement. Traditional Chinese Pharmacy textbooks record that Spatholobi Caulis (SC) can alleviate the side effects caused by TW and also possesses excellent hepatoprotective effect.

Distribution of BCR::ABL1 transcript types and response to therapy in pediatric patients with chronic myeloid leukemia.

Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, University Hospital Erlangen, Erlangen, Germany; Comprehensive Cancer Center Erlangen-EMN (CCC ER-EMN), Erlangen, Germany; Bavarian Cancer Research Center (BZKF), Erlangen, Germany. Electronic address:

Achieving a stable deep molecular response with the option to discontinue tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKI) treatment is the new therapeutic goal for patients with chronic myeloid leukemia (CML). Several studies have shown that individuals expressing the BCR::ABL1 e14a2 transcript achieve a major molecular response more rapidly than those with the e13a2 transcript. However, technical issues may have confounded these observations, and data for pediatric patients are limited.
