Transplacental exposure to diethylstilboestrol (DES) strongly decreases the fertility of the offsprings. Progesterone receptors concentrations are significantly decreased for treated group (0.40 and 0.44 pmol/mg cytosol proteins) versus control group (0.74 pmol/mg cytosol proteins) Estradiol receptor concentrations are significantly higher for long time treated groups (0.26 pmol/mg cytosol proteins) versus control or short time treated groups (0.15 and 0.13 pmol/mg cytosol proteins).

Signaling of two-component systems by phosphoryl transfer requires interaction of the sensor kinase with the response regulator. Interaction of the C4-dicarboxylate-responsive and membrane-integral sensor kinase DcuS with the response regulator DcuR was studied. , the cytoplasmic part of DcuS (PAS-Kin) was employed.

Acylated lysine residues represent major chemical modifications in proteins. We investigated the malonylation and propionylation of lysine residues (MalK, PropK) in the proteins of aging human lenses. Western blot results showed that the two modifications are present in human lens proteins.

A novel and rapid method to determine the potency of inhibitors for tryptophan 2, 3-dioxygenase (TDO2) activities in human and preclinical species was successfully developed and validated utilizing LC-MS/MS. Previously reported TDO2 activity assays are resource intensive, requiring cloning and overexpression of TDO2. Here, we demonstrated that liver cytosol contained sufficient active TDO2 for evaluating the potency of TDO2 inhibitors across multiple species.

Coumadin (rac-warfarin) is the most commonly used anticoagulant in the world; however, its clinical use is often challenging because of its narrow therapeutic range and interindividual variations in response. A critical contributor to the uncertainty is variability in warfarin metabolism, which includes mostly oxidative but also reductive pathways. Reduction of each warfarin enantiomer yields two warfarin alcohol isomers, and the corresponding four alcohols retain varying levels of anticoagulant activity.
