Periodontal disease is common among U.S. adults, and the practice of dental hygiene can be improved by new treatments to control periodontal inflammation and destruction. Probiotics, which are defined as live microbes that confer health benefits to a host when consumed in sufficient quantities, may offer a low-risk, easy-to-use treatment option for periodontal diseases. Experimental probiotic treatments in-vivo and explorations in-vitro published from 2005 to 2010 characterize the effects of specific probiotic strains on factors in periodontal health. Data considered includes clinical parameters such as gingival index, plaque index, periodontal probing depths and bleeding on probing, inhibition versus colonization of known periodontal pathogens and markers of the host immune response. Results of these studies suggest that probiotics may benefit periodontal health. Some of the most promising results occurred when the probiotic treatment was delivered in the form of a lozenge and combined with the traditional treatment of scaling and root planing. Existing commercial probiotic products for periodontal health refer to some of these data. Dosage may also play a role in probiotic efficacy for the periodontium. More research is needed to define the optimal strain or strains, therapeutic dosage, delivery mechanism and patient profile for periodontal probiotics.

Background: Minimally invasive dentistry is now becoming the forefront of restorative dentistry, involving less traumatic treatment protocols, conservation of tooth structure and surrounding tissues, enhancing the long-term survivability of treated teeth, and improving the overall quality of life for patients.
Objective: The current case report was conducted to evaluate acquiring deep subgingival interproximal carious lesions by the mean of thermacut bur gingivectomy, in terms of patient satisfaction through pain evaluation, Bleeding on Probing, Pocket Depth, Crestal Bone Level evaluation, and restoration evaluation using modified USPHS criteria.
Material And Methods: A patient with a deep proximal cavity in the posterior tooth was thoroughly examined and underwent Thermacut Bur Gingivectomy (TBG) after caries removal followed by direct resin composite restoration of the prepared cavity.

The NLRP3 inflammasome, regulated by TLR4, plays a pivotal role in periodontitis by mediating inflammatory cytokine release and bone loss induced by Porphyromonas gingivalis. Periodontal disease creates a hypoxic environment, favoring anaerobic bacteria survival and exacerbating inflammation. The NLRP3 inflammasome triggers pyroptosis, a programmed cell death that amplifies inflammation and tissue damage.

Occlusal tactile acuity (OTA) and bite force are essential components of the sensorimotor control of oral behaviors. While these variables have been studied independently, it has not yet been revealed whether compressive force impacts the occlusal perception mediated by the mechanoreceptive afferents in the periodontal ligament. The present study examined the effect of repetition and maximum bite force on OTA by testing nine aluminum foils of different thicknesses together with a sham test with no foil, three times each, in randomized order in 36 healthy individuals.

Objective: To provide a comprehensive summary of the available evidence on the oral microbiota of humans and non-human primates about the etiology of periodontal disease.
Design: An integrative literature review was conducted on 398 clinical and observational articles published between 2010 and 2024 using searches in the MEDLINE/PubMed, Virtual Health Library, and SciELO databases. After the screening, eligibility, data extraction, and methodological quality assessment, 21 studies were selected.

Objective: Aim of this study was to critically appraise clinical evidence on the potential benefits of adjunctive use of superfoods green tea and turmeric as mouthrinse or local delivery agents in the treatment of periodontal disease.
Materials And Methods: Electronic searches were performed in four databases for randomized trials from inception to February 2024 assessing the supplemental use of superfoods green tea and turmeric for gingivitis/periodontitis treatment. After duplicate study selection, data extraction, and risk-of-bias assessment with the RoB 2 tool, random-effects meta-analyses of Mean Differences (MD) or Standardized Mean Differences (SMD) with their 95% confidence intervals (CI) were performed.
