A 23-year-old lady presented with a slowly progressing firm mass on the nasal dorsum since 8 months. Her biochemical, haematological and collagen vascular disease screening tests were normal. Radiographs of the nasal bones showed a subcutaneous calcifying lesion with no evidence of nasal bone erosion. A diagnosis of idiopathic calcinosis cutis (ICC) was made. The mass was excised and soft tissue defect was augmented with silicone prosthesis. The histopathology with the haematoxylin and eosin staining and von Kossa stain confirmed the diagnosis of calcinosis cutis. This is an unusual presentation of ICC involving the nasal dorsum requiring surgery and nasal dorsal augmentation with silicone prosthesis.

Calcinosis cutis affects 20-40% of patients with systemic sclerosis. This study tests the hypothesis that calcium-chelating polycarboxylic acids can induce calcium dissolution without skin toxicity or irritancy. We compared citric acid (CA) and ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid (EDTA) to sodium thiosulfate (STS) for their ability to chelate calcium in vitro using a pharmaceutical dissolution model of calcinosis (hydroxyapatite (HAp) tablet), prior to evaluation of toxicity and irritancy in 2D in vitro skin models.

Hyperphosphatemic familial tumoral calcinosis (HFTC) is a rare, autosomal recessive condition characterized by fibroblast growth factor 23 signaling pathway dysregulation, hyperphosphatemia and ectopic calcifications (which manifest as joint motion limitations), inflammatory bony pain, and disability. Given the rarity and multiorgan involvement of HFTC, a multidisciplinary approach including Dermatology, Ophthalmology, Dentistry, Nephrology, Endocrinology, Rheumatology, and Genetics is necessary for diagnosis and treatment. We present a multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment approach for a patient with HFTC due to a gene mutation with unique imaging highlighting the extent of calcinosis seen in HFTC.

Scrotal calcinosis is an infrequent benign pathological condition characterised by the presence of multiple calcified nodules on the skin of the scrotum. Despite the formulation of several theories, the precise pathogenesis of this condition remains a subject of controversy within the scientific community. The predominant concern associated with scrotal calcinosis is of an aesthetic nature, and histological examination serves as the definitive method for confirmation of the diagnosis.
