In this paper the contraceptive effect of Ayush AC-4 an ayurvedic compound preparation is assessed. Totally 281 volunteers have been enrolled in the study. Tho menstrual cycles covered by the women ranged from 1-30. Tho result is moderately satisfactory. No toxic symptoms or severe aide-effects were noticed. The authors say that in tho light of the results obtained in this study, it may be desirable and feasible to make this compound preparation acceptablo like the other oral contraceptives.

The labile tautomerism of -unsubstituted 5-acyl-4-pyridones, which exist in the form of 4-pyridone or 4-hydroxypyridine depending on the solvent, has been demonstrated. This equilibrium determines the reactivity of pyridones and their ability to undergo substitution reactions of the OH group. A regioselective and convenient method for the construction of functionalized pyrazolo[4,3-]pyridines (30-93%) based on the intramolecular amination reaction of 4-pyridones with hydrazines has been developed.

Background/purpose: Osseointegration potential is greatly depended on the interaction between bone cells and dental implant surface. Since zirconia ceramic has a bioinert surface, functionalization of the surface with an organic compound allylamine was conducted to overcome its drawback of minimal interaction with the surrounding bone.
Materials And Methods: The zirconia surface was initially treated with argon glow discharge plasma (GDP), then combined with amine plasma at three different conditions of 50-W, 75-W and 85-W, to prepare the final samples.

Background: Subcritical water (SW) is regarded as an effective conversion technology for lignocellulosic biomass. The effect of SW on ginseng are limited to evaluate the ginsenoside composition of red ginseng, and there is little information on the effects of SW on fresh ginseng.
Methods: The general characteristics of ginseng extracts (GE) prepared with SW were evaluated in terms of brix, reducing sugar and residual solid content, and compositions of GE was estimated using chromatography.
