Phosphate rebinding induces force reversal via slow backward cycling of cross-bridges.

Front Physiol

January 2025

Institute of Vegetative Physiology, University of Cologne, Köln, Germany.

Objective: Previous studies on muscle fibers, myofibrils, and myosin revealed that the release of inorganic phosphate (P) and the force-generating step(s) are reversible, with cross-bridges also cycling backward through these steps by reversing force-generating steps and rebinding P. The aim was to explore the significance of force redevelopment kinetics (rate constant ) in cardiac myofibrils for the coupling between the P binding induced force reversal and the rate-limiting transition for backward cycling of cross-bridges from force-generating to non-force-generating states.

Methods: and force generation of cardiac myofibrils from guinea pigs were investigated at 0.

Background: The Epley or Semont maneuver is performed for posterior canal benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (PC-BPPV). The postural crisis indicates the phenomenon that the patient experiences severe dizziness, is unable to maintain the sitting posture, and suddenly falls backward or sideways on the examination table when returning to the sitting position, which is the final step of the canalith repositioning procedure (CRP). The postural crisis increases the risk of falls during CRP.

Background: Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) is a common disorder interfering with physical, emotional and social domains, and overall quality of life (QoL). The Heavy Menstrual Bleeding-Visual Analog Scale (HMB-VAS) tool, including the VAS for menstrual bleeding intensity (VAS-Int) and the VAS for its interference with daily activities (VAS-Imp), is useful for HMB screening. The SAMANTA questionnaire (SAMANTA-Q) was developed and psychometrically validated in Spanish to easily identify women with HMB.

Introduction Chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) presents with different clinical patterns with variable responses to treatment. Clear criteria for specifying disease severity and assessing symptom control are lacking in the current literature. We aimed to perform a cross-cultural adaptation of the chronic rhinosinusitis patient-reported outcomes (CRS-PRO), creating a Portuguese version to use as a routine questionnaire in the evaluation of patients with CRS.

Aim: Heavy menstrual bleeding (HMB) affects up to 37% of adolescents. Given the paucity of available tools to assess health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in adolescents with HMB, we developed the adolescent menstrual bleeding questionnaire (aMBQ), a valid and reliable measure of bleeding-related quality of life. The aim of this study was cross-cultural translation and adaptation of the English aMBQ into French to ensure accessibility for more Canadian adolescents who menstruate.
