We summarize here our experimental studies of the high rovibrational energy levels of water. The use of double-resonance vibrational overtone excitation followed by energy-selective photofragmentation and laser-induced fluorescence detection of OH fragments allowed us to measure previously inaccessible rovibrational energies above the seventh OH-stretch overtone. Extension of the experimental approach to triple-resonance excitation provides access to rovibrational levels via transitions with significant transition dipole moments (mainly OH-stretch overtones) up to the dissociation threshold of the O-H bond. A collisionally assisted excitation scheme enables us to probe vibrations that are not readily accessible via pure laser excitation. Observation of the continuous absorption onset yields a precise value for the O-H bond dissociation threshold, 41 145.94 ± 0.15 cm(-1). Finally, we detect long-lived resonances as sharp peaks in spectra above the dissociation threshold.

With the rapid advancement of information technology, the need to achieve ultra-high-density data storage has become a pressing necessity. This study synthesized three hyperbranched polyimides (HBPI-TAPP, HBPI-(Zn)TAPP, and HBPI-(Cu)TAPP) by polymerizing 5,10,15,20-tetrakis(4-aminophenyl)porphyrin (TAPP), which features a cavity for metal ion coordination, with 4,4'-(hexafluoroisopropylidene)diphthalic anhydride (6FDA), to systematically investigate the effect of metal ion species on storage performance. According to the results, memory devices based on HBPI-(Zn)TAPP exhibit volatile SRAM (static random-access memory) characteristics, whereas devices employing HBPI-TAPP and HBPI-(Cu)TAPP demonstrate non-volatile WORM (write-once, read-many) characteristics.

Soil microbiota plays crucial roles in maintaining the health, productivity, and nutrient cycling of terrestrial ecosystems. The persistence and prevalence of heterocyclic compounds in soil pose significant risks to soil health. However, understanding the links between heterocyclic compounds and microbial responses remains challenging due to the complexity of microbial communities and their various chemical structures.

Immaturities exist at multiple levels of the developing human visual pathway, starting with immaturities in photon efficiency and spatial sampling in the retina and on through immaturities in early and later stages of cortical processing. Here we use Steady-State Visual Evoked Potentials (SSVEPs) and controlled visual stimuli to determine the degree to which sensitivity to horizontal retinal disparity is limited by the visibility of the monocular half-images, the ability to encode absolute disparity or the ability to encode relative disparity. Responses were recorded from male and female human participants at average ages of 5.

Accurate Rayleigh and Raman scattering cross sections, tensor components, depolarization ratios, and reversal coefficients for all rovibrational transitions within the X1Σg+ ground electronic state of H2 have been calculated. Raman spectra have been generated using these data. A method for calculating Raman scattering cross sections is formulated that is valid below the ionization threshold and in the region containing resonances, which explicitly accounts for all bound and dissociative vibrational levels of the bound intermediate electronic states and approximately accounts for the ionization continuum.

Background: VEGF-A concentrations were measured in the blood of bevacizumab-treated cancer patients in previous studies, but a consensus has not formed that would develop VEGF-A into a clinical biomarker. Recently, methods to strictly distinguish between the VEGF-A isoforms have been developed but have not yet been applied to cancer patients undergoing bevacizumab treatment.
Methods: An ELISA that strictly distinguishes between VEGF-A121 and VEGF-A165-the major isoforms of VEGF-A-and a commercially available ELISA for VEGF-A are used to determine the concentration of VEGF-A121, VEGF-A165, and VEGF-A in the blood of 12 patients with advanced colorectal cancer receiving bevacizumab therapy.
