Quadrupole response of a weakly bound bosonic trimer.

Published: March 2012

The inelastic response of a bosonic trimer is explored in the confines of the Borromean region. To this end we model the interaction between the external field and the bosonic system as a photoabsorptionlike process and study the response of the trimer in the quadrupole approximation. We utilize the hyperspherical-harmonics expansion to solve the Schrödinger equation and the Lorentz integral transform method to calculate the reaction. It is found that the magnitude of the response function and corresponding sum rules increase exponentially when approaching the 3-body threshold. It is also found that this increase is governed by unnatural exponents. The connection between our results and radio-frequency experiments in ultracold atom systems is made.

Introduction: Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has the potential to infect various animals, including domestic pets like dogs and cats. Many studies have documented infection in companion animals by molecular and serological methods. However, only a few have compared seroprevalence in cats and dogs from the general population, and these studies were limited by small sample sizes and collections over short periods.

In quantum targeted energy transfer, bosons are transferred from a certain crystal site to an alternative one, utilizing a nonlinear resonance configuration similar to the classical targeted energy transfer. We use a computational method based on machine learning algorithms in order to investigate selectivity as well as efficiency of the quantum transfer in the context of a dimer and a trimer system. We find that our method identifies resonant quantum transfer paths that allow boson transfer in unison.

Nearest neighbor bosons possessing only on-site interactions do not form on-site bound pairs in their quantum walk due to fermionization. We obtain signatures of nontrivial on-site pairing in the quantum walk of strongly interacting two component bosons in a one dimensional lattice. By considering an initial state with particles from different components located at the nearest-neighbor sites in the central region of the lattice, we show that in the dynamical evolution of the system, competing intra- and intercomponent on-site repulsion leads to the formation of on-site intercomponent bound states.

The mixing-demixing phase diagram of ultracold heteronuclear mixtures in a ring trimer.

We derive the complete mixing-demixing phase-diagram relevant to a bosonic binary mixture confined in a ring trimer and modeled within the Bose-Hubbard picture. The mixing properties of the two quantum fluids, which are shown to be strongly affected by the fragmented character of the confining potential, are evaluated by means of a specific indicator imported from Statistical Thermodynamics and are shown to depend only on two effective parameters incorporating the asymmetry between the heteronuclear species. To closely match realistic experimental conditions, our study is extended also beyond the pointlike approximation of potential wells by describing the systems in terms of two coupled Gross-Pitaevskii equations.

Stable p-Wave Resonant Two-Dimensional Fermi-Bose Dimers.

Phys Rev Lett

LPTMS, CNRS, Univ. Paris Sud, Université Paris-Saclay, 91405 Orsay, France.

We consider two-dimensional weakly bound heterospecies molecules formed in a Fermi-Bose mixture with attractive Fermi-Bose and repulsive Bose-Bose interactions. Bosonic exchanges lead to an intermolecular attraction, which can be controlled and tuned to a p-wave resonance. Such attractive fermionic molecules can be realized in quasi-two-dimensional ultracold isotopic mixtures.
