Turk J Pediatr

December 2024

Division of Pediatric Hematology and Oncology, Department of Pediatrics, İstanbul Faculty of Medicine, İstanbul University, İstanbul, Türkiye.

Background: Patients with hemophilia should be evaluated for joint health and overall health in their visits. The aims of this study were to evaluate joint health and health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with mild, moderate, and severe hemophilia; determine which patient groups to focus on and whether there are any neglected patient groups.

Methods: This was a single-center, cross-sectional study.

Hierarchical structures of surface-accessible plasmonic gold and silver nanoparticles for SERS detection.

Soft Matter

January 2025

Faculty of Chemistry, Ho Chi Minh City University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, 227 Nguyen Van Cu Street, Ward 4, District 5, Ho Chi Minh City 70000, Vietnam.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a highly sensitive analytical technique with excellent molecular specificity. However, separate pristine nanoparticles produce relatively weak Raman signals. It is necessary to focus on increasing the "hot-spot" density generated at the nanogaps between the adjacent nanoparticles (second-generation SERS hotspot), thus significantly boosting the Raman signal by creating an electromagnetic field.

Background: The characteristics of tumor immune microenvironment are important factors affecting the efficacy of immunotherapy, and there are differences in the distribution of tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) subsets in different types of tumors. This study aims to compare the distributions of cluster of differentiation (CD) 4+ and CD4+ T cell subsets of TILs and their clinical significance between lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) and lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC).

Methods: The tumor tissues of 78 LUAD and 56 LUSC patients who underwent surgery at The Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University between October 2020 and October 2022 were collected, TIL level were detected by pathological observation, and the proportions of CD4+, CD4+ T cell subsets and CD4+/CD4+ ratio in TILs were detected by flow cytometry.

This study aimed to analyze the impact of poor oral function on medical expenditures among older adults. We diagnosed oral hypofunction based on dental data obtained from oral health examinations and examined its association with several annual medical expenditures. Compared to individuals without oral hypofunction, those with oral hypofunction incurred higher total, outpatient medical, inpatient medical, dental, dispensing medical, and lifestyle-related medical expenditures.
