Metabolic efficiency, as a selective force shaping proteomes, has been shown to exist in Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis and in a small number of organisms with photoautotrophic and thermophilic lifestyles. Earlier attempts at larger-scale analyses have utilized proxies (such as molecular weight) for biosynthetic cost, and did not consider lifestyle or auxotrophy. This study extends the analysis to all currently sequenced microbial organisms that are amenable to these analyses while utilizing lifestyle specific amino acid biosynthesis pathways (where possible) to determine protein production costs and compensating for auxotrophy. The tendency for highly expressed proteins (with adherence to codon usage bias as a proxy for expressivity) to utilize less biosynthetically expensive amino acids is taken as evidence of cost selection. A comprehensive analysis of sequenced genomes to identify those that exhibit strong translational efficiency bias (389 out of 1,700 sequenced organisms) is also presented.

Efficient recombinant protein production requires mammalian stable cell lines or often relies on inefficient transfection processes. Baculoviral transduction of mammalian cells (BacMam) offers cost-effective and robust gene transfer and straightforward scalability. The advantages over conventional approaches are, no need of high biosafety level laboratories, efficient transduction of various cell types and transfer of large transgenes into host cells.

Protein glycosylation, which involves the addition of carbohydrate chains to amino acid side chains, imparts essential properties to proteins, offering immense potential in synthetic biology applications. Despite its importance, natural glycosylation pathways present several limitations, highlighting the need for new tools to better understand glycan structures, recognition, metabolism, and biosynthesis, and to facilitate the production of biologically relevant glycoproteins. The field of bacterial glycoengineering has gained significant attention due to the ongoing discovery and study of bacterial glycosylation systems.

Background: Facial recognition technology in medical imaging, particularly with head scans, poses privacy risks due to identifiable facial features. This study evaluates the use of facial recognition software in identifying facial features from head CT scans and explores a defacing pipeline using TotalSegmentator to reduce re-identification risks while preserving data integrity for research.
Methods: 1404 high-quality renderings from the UCLH EIT Stroke dataset, both with and without defacing were analysed.

The world's one of the major causes of death are cancer. Cancer is still a complex disease over the years that needs to be cured. Traditional cytotoxic approaches, although they have been implemented for years for treating neoplastic diseases, yet are limited due to the intricacy and low efficiency of cancer cells.
