Unlabelled: Malakoplakia is a rare granulomatous condition that occurs due to defective lysosomal digestion during phagocytosis and can mimic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) or malignancies, particularly in immunosuppressed patients. We report the case of a 62-year-old male with IgG4-related orbitopathy, who developed persistent diarrhoea and colonic lesions 6 weeks after receiving rituximab therapy for nephrotic syndrome secondary to membranoproliferative glomerulonephritis. Colonoscopy revealed pancolitis with mucosal granularity, loss of vascular pattern, and small nodules, raising initial suspicion for IBD.

Background And Objectives: The efficacy of rituximab (RTX) in treating steroid-resistant Graves' orbitopathy (GO) has been limitedly studied in Asians. Moreover, RTX has been considered even less for patients with steroid-resistant dysthyroid optic neuropathy (DON) who failed to undergo orbital decompression surgery for physical or financial reasons, or who responded poorly to the procedure. This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of RTX in treating steroid-resistant active moderate-to-severe and sight-threatening GO in a Chinese population.

Introduction: HIV fourth-generation assay, designed for the detection of HIV p24 antigen along with anti-HIV antibodies of both immunoglobulin M and immunoglobulin G type against HIV 1 and HIV 2 viral antigens, have helped in the early detection of HIV infection and supports in minimizing the transmission risk in the acute phase of infection.
