Transverse abdominal wall incisions are favoured as part of enhanced recovery programmes. We explored the use of rectus-preserving extraction site incisions in laparoscopic right colectomy. The approach involved minimal anterior abdominal wall disruption with preservation of the rectus abdominis muscle: the rectus abdominis muscle extraction site (RAMES). In 15 patients, a RAMES was used electively in right colectomy for malignancy. The median wound length was 6 cms. There was no clinical or radiological evidence of incisional herniation in the 15 patients at 12-month and in the 12 survivors at 24-month follow-up. An anatomical dissection at specimen extraction site reduces early incisional herniation rates and should be of benefit in the longer term.

We report a new NMR method for treating two-site chemical exchange involving half-integer quadrupolar nuclei in a solution. The new method was experimentally verified with extensive Na ( = 3/2), K ( = 3/2), and Rb ( = 3/2) NMR results from alkali metal ions (Na, K, and Rb) in a solution over a wide range of molecular tumbling conditions. In the fast-motion limit, all allowed single-quantum NMR transitions for a particular quadrupolar nucleus are degenerate giving rise to one Lorentzian signal.

Background: Behaviour support plans (BSPs) for people in residential aged care (RAC) were mandated nationally in 2019 for those who require, or may require, restrictive practices as part of their care. The legislation aims to reduce and potentially eliminate restrictive practices: long-standing problems of their inappropriate use were highlighted by the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety (2018). Many people living with dementia will be impacted: up to 90% experience changed behaviours; 54% of people in RACs have dementia; and approximately 20% experience cognitive decline without a diagnosis.

Objective: To describe the incidence of bleeding and thrombotic complications in VA-ECMO according to anticoagulation strategy.
Design: This systematic review and meta-analysis included randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and observational studies reporting bleeding and thrombotic complications in VA-ECMO. The incidence of primary outcomes according to anticoagulation drug and monitoring test was described.

To summarize the morphological characteristics and development and healing processes of severe radiodermatitis for examining the factors contributing to the development of severe radiodermatitis in patients with head and neck cancer. This scoping review was conducted in accordance with PRISMA extension for Scoping Reviews. Data were extracted from selected references describing detailed conditions of severe radiodermatitis in patients with head and neck cancer.

Unlabelled: The implication of matrix metalloproteinase-12 (MMP-12) in various major disorders including cancer, COPD, cardiovascular disorders, and neurological diseases makes it a potential target for drug discovery. Contemplating the significance of MMP-12, a number of MMP-12 inhibitors were designed, synthesized and tested throughout the world but the non-selective nature of most of those molecules can lead to adverse drug interactions. In contradiction, the dibenzofuran (DBF) and dibenzothiophene (DBT) derivatives showed highly potent and selective MMP-12 inhibition.
