Objective: The objective of this study was to understand the resident perspective on what makes an excellent surgical educator and to identify gaps in a single-institution-developed "Residents as Teachers" curriculum (RaTC) following the completion of the RaTC by residents at the institution.
Design: A longitudinal 8-hour RaTC was developed and administered in 1-hour sessions over 2 years. Content included interactive clinical and technical skills teaching, feedback, evaluation and assessment, and interpersonal skills.

Purpose: Forceful coughing is assumed to be an uncommon etiology for lateral abdominal wall hernias. The literature regarding this topic is very limited and there is a lack of consensus in management, both operative and non-operative. We aim to report our center's experience in repair of lateral abdominal wall hernias secondary to vigorous coughing.

Hyperuricemia (HUA) has become the second most common metabolic disease after type 2 diabetes mellitus and is the most important risk factor for gout. This discussion focuses on the targets and clinical application value of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) extracts in the treatment of HUA and gout, emphasizing the role of gut microbiota.

Background: Assessing proficiency in the initial management of a traumatically injured patient is challenging. Previously developed scoring tools frequently looked to evaluate single domains of a trauma leader or team's performance. An updated multi-domain scoring tool is needed to evaluate individual and group performance in the initial phases of trauma resuscitation.
