A new approach is described to produce an efficient electrode material for biofuel cells using flexible carbon cloth (FCC) and hollow core-mesoporous shell carbon (HCMSC) nanospheres as bio-anode materials. The bio-electrochemical activity of glucose oxidase (GOx) enzyme adsorbed on this bio-anode was evaluated, with the maximum anodic current density varying from 80 microA cm(-2) to 180 microA cm-2 for glucose concentrations up to 5.0 mmol L(-1) for the FCC modified electrode with HCMSCs. The open circuit cell voltage was E(0) = 380 mV, and the catalytic electro-oxidation current of glucose reached 0.1 mA cm(-2) at 0.0 V versus Ag/AgCl. This new system employing HCMSC-based FCC is promising toward novel bio-anodes for biofuel cells using glucose as a fuel.

The increasing reliance on electronic devices has created a pressing demand for high-performance and sustainable electromagnetic interference shielding materials. While conventional materials, such as metals and carbon-based composites, offer excellent shielding capabilities, they are hindered by high costs, environmental concerns, and limitations in scalability. Polysaccharide-based materials, including cellulose, chitosan, and alginate, represent a promising alternative due to their biodegradability, renewability, and versatility.

Antibiotic residues pose a significant threat to global health. Traditional detection methods for antibiotics are cumbersome, time-consuming and often incapable of achieving non-destructive detection at low temperatures. This research introduces a groundbreaking innovation in antibiotic detection: a flexible Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering substrate based on a silver composite deep eutectic solvent (DES) gel, specifically engineered for low-temperature antibiotic detection.

To address the concern of optimization problem of China's PM control and the limitation of computational efficiencies for traditional air quality models, we developed an integrated analysis framework to efficiently establish the identification and cost-benefit assessment of PM control pathways in China by constructing a rapid PM exposure response method based on the high-order decoupled direct method (HDDM) and coupling the sequential least square algorithm (SLSQP) and health impact assessment model. Six emission reduction scenarios with varying decision preferences were analyzed. Our study provides a methodological approach for the rapid optimization of emission pathways of major air pollutants in China with flexible options in terms of objectives and constraints, fully considering the diverse differences in environmental, health, and economic impacts among different pollution sources simultaneously.

A label-free, flexible, and disposable aptasensor was designed for the rapid on-site detection of vancomycin (VAN) levels. The electrochemical sensor was based on lab-printed carbon electrodes (C-PE) enriched with cauliflower-shaped gold nanostructures (AuNSs), on which VAN-specific aptamers were immobilized as biorecognition elements and short-chain thiols as blocking agents. The AuNSs, characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), enhanced the electrochemical properties of the platform and the aptamer immobilization active sites.

The importance of continuous and reliable pulse wave monitoring is constantly being increased in health signal monitoring and disease diagnoses. Flexible pressure sensors with high sensitivity, low hysteresis and fast response time are an effective means for monitoring pulses. Herein, a special wave-shaped layered porous structure of carbonized wood cellulose sponge (CWCS) was constructed based on natural wood (NW).
